hey guys,

my hour gauge didn't work last year. i made sure it was connected and all that good stuff. anyway to determine if it's the meter or if it's not getting power?

can't wait to get back on the water up here in wisconsin.

Phil, Do you have a volt meter or at least one of those test lights? I'll bet it is getting power unless someone has been doing some electrical engineering under the dash!!

If you use a multimeter, make sure that you have a good ground to work with.
A problem could be with ground or voltage side.

Definately check the wiring. Mine stopped working 4 years ago. I bought a new guage, but that was not the problem. Still haven't figured it out.

Phil, You don't need to be a electrical engineer on this one and don't worry about reading a long and possibly confusing article. You will have two connections on the meter. One will be positive and one will be negative. With a test light, you won't even need to know which is which! With a analog meter, if you have the test leads on backwards, the needle will try to move backwards. If you have a digital meter and have the test leads backwards, then it will display a negative reading.
