What is the small silver 2 terminal box on the back of the tach? It is not wired to the tach appears to just be mounted to one of the tach studs. The original fuel gauge and oil pressure gauge hot wire comes through this box. The temp gauge which is newer replacement does not. I am putting in all new gauges and don't know if I can eliminate this part. No part# or mfg name.

David, Ohm meter it and see if there is resistance between the two terminals. I would have to say that it is a resistor for the old original gauges.
