Eric
We have a sign out front, advertising for a position in our concrete production plant. I hate to say, there is nothing more entertaining, yet scary, than reading some of the applications.

Eric,
There's nothing wrong with your spelling... The only thing I noticed is that you don't like to hold the "Shift"-key down when you start a sentence, or even don't use the "Shift"-key all together LOL (FYI there are even two of them on your keyboard LOL)
But who am I to argue... i em onli a belgien ho kant spel aither...
BTW, I think that this is also a problem that spreads over many countries. Over here we have the same problem. People say it's due to the use of computers and especially chat and sms-language...

If you think literacy is an issue, give them a math problem. Ever try to get correct change from a slacker employee when they are working at a place that doesnt have a cash register that calculates and tells them how much change to give back...forget it!!

Larry, I'm currently hiring for a purchasing agent, you know, someone who works with numbers all day long. Yesterday I interviewed one applicant and asked "Tell me about your stengths and weeknesses related to this position?" Reply, "I'm really good on the computer and surfing the internet but I suck with numbers!!!"
Thankyou , we'll be intouch.
Next applicant Please!

Alan, please tell me they didn't actually use the word "suck" in a formal interview? Well, looks like i'm already quite a ways ahead of other schmucks my age interviewing for jobs.
The thing that gets me the most is people thinking that it's ok to write in shorthand (ie txt message, AIM style) in a formal document; paper for class, resume, etc.
Also, bad grammar absolutely kills me, my biggest thing is when people say "I seen... the other day..." no, i'm sorry you didn't "SEEN" anything, you "SAW" someone or something the other day... I know I'm only 22, but believe me guys, this crap bugs me as much, if not more than you guys. Because, well, older people look down on our generation because the majority of "us" can't put together a full sentence that's grammatically correct in a formal setting....ehhh
I'm done ranting...

We run a on-site shredding service. Every time I run an ad for a new driver I get several calls from guys whos first question they ask is "Do ya'll drug test?"
That should NOT EVER be the first question anyone ask during an interview.
Several years back in another life I was an HR Director for a big shop in the area. You should have seen the applications we recieved.
We had to change our applications when asking about 'sex' not because of some PC bull*************** but because every week we would have a few jokers that would write "Yes" or "as often as I can". One guy even wrote "hopefully soon"
Some how these always found there way to the We'll call you pile.

Deep,
We finally put a sign at the front desk that states that we do have a drug testing policy. I has saved a lot of paper.

Yup, happened yesterday.
You'd be amazed at what total strangers will start telling you.
Couple of years ago I was interviewing a guy for a salesmans job and he's sitting across from me at my desk looking very uncomfortable, squirming in his chair. I asked if he was nervous and he says , "No I'm not nervous, I got a vasectomy yesterday and my junk is killin me"
Thankyou very much, Next Please

I went out for a few drinks the night before an interview about 26 years ago. I'm a beer drinker, but somehow we got onto shots and we all got completly ebliterated. I mean completely shattered. In my interview, the guy seemed to like me, but he says to me "are you all right, something doesn't seem right with you"? I said to him, "to be honest with you, I went out after work last night and I got s**tfaced". I'll never forget the look on his face when I said that.
