Here is another beginners posting of my 1976 Mustang 17. I have always wanted another Mustang to drop a bigger engine into allowing the ’74 Mustang to stay original. Well, the timing was right in the spring of 2004, and purchased it in my hometown where the previous owner upgraded to a SN2001. I am the third owner, where it was originally sold in Massachusetts. It was one of those freak moments I never thought would of ever happened. I will post better pictures come summer time.

When purchased, the boat had the original PCM 302 220 hp engine with a little over 400 hrs on it. It ran good (nothing like the OMC 225 in ’74) but had one cylinder with low compression. In the summer of 2005, I purchased a complete PCM 310 hp vortec carbed bobtail engine from SkiDim, and installed it over a period of several nights. I replaced EVERYTHING except the transmission where it got blasted and painted. It was a job to do because not everything went together 100%. I also fabricated an aluminum/Stainless bracket off the rear engine mount for a water strainer. I also added a brass male garden hose fitting to the water strainer to eliminate the need for a fake-a-lake.

I ended up fabricating all new original seats, and covered them with the original vinyl. The interior is fair with the old vinyl and does the job. I wanted this boat to be the "ski" boat where it doesnt matter as much if the seats got stepped on and scuffed. I buffed the heck out of it and did some cosmetic work to the hull.
