This is my first boat. I purchased this 1967 Correct Craft Mustang on March 24, 2007 after finding it for sale on this site. The previous owner did an extensive restoration including:
New floor
New stringers
New seats (could use some finishing touches)
New electrical at engine (electronic distributor, plugs, wires, coil, solenoid)
New Holley 4160 600 CFM 4-barrel carburator (List Number 75009-3)
New fuel pump
New drive shaft
New rudder
New pylon
New gauges (I have the originals as well)
New hoses (only those that were severely damaged)
New impellor
New carpet
New gas tank
Newer alternator
Removeable Swim Platform
This Mustang has a Ford Interceptor 302 with an Edelbrock F4B intake and Holley 4160 600 CFM carb in it that at some point replaced the stock 289 that it came with sometime in the 70’s. During the restoration, seats were fabricated out of wood (correct dimensions of original seats) and carpeted (I’ll be finishing this up later). They have adjustments forward and backward and the passenger seat can be faced forward or backward depending on if you are cruising or skiing. Stringers and floor were done as well (complete replacement not just partial). Also, a roll in bed liner over the bilge area was installed.
During the restoration, a few additional items were added including (blower, bilge, small removable console with speedometer, stereo w/ two speakers, and 12V accessory outlet). The battery was moved to the center of the boat instead of the driver side seat. If I want to return it to 100% original, it would only take a few minutes as the center console and cupholders in the rear are easily taken out. Everything else in the boat is as close to original as possible with the exception that the stringers when replaced were beefed up a bit to add additional strenth to the boat.
This Mustang still has the gear selector on the dash and accelerator foot peddle on the floor. It has all the original emblems and they are in good shape except for starboard Correct Craft which is missing a C. All others are great (Mustang and horse on dash, F N R at gear selector, etc). Yes, this is the original Powder Blue Gelcoat. She has a few nicks and scratches but shines up very nicely.
She is currently running a 12x12 prop but will be swapped out with a 12x13 as soon as I can.
I also have the original 1967 Correct Craft trailer that was purchased with this boat. It has been repainted and has new wiring and lights. I had the previous owner add a jack and at some point I’ll be adding some guides and a winch as it is really difficult to get the Mustang back on this trailer.
Note: HP is conservatively rated based on other 302 Interceptor owner’s feedback.
