While launching another of my wooden boats, this gentleman approached and asked if I would be interested in a boat project. It sunk on the Columbia River (raw water pick up hit a log)in the late 70’s and his dad bought it with the intention of rebuilding. He said it was a 1956 Atom, but after a little research, I think that it is a 1959 Atom Skier Deluxe. It had been in a barn since his dad brought it home. After looking at the boat and finding that every last part was tagged and boxed I couldn’t stand the excitement. I almost fell over when he said that the barn space was more valuable to him than the boat and I could have it if I wanted. Two hours later I was back with a car hauler and loaded it up. Restoration is just starting this summer (’07) and hope to have ready for next season!
