This 1973 Skier was owned by my neighbor, and one of my best friends bought it from him in 2003. All of us learned to wakeboard behind this beauty and I always said it was my boat because I wanted it so bad but could not afford it at the time. When my buddy had to sell it in a hurry last fall I was not sure I could take it on, but my wife made a passing comment of "why not" so that was that. I bought it.

We were the classic newby Correct Craft owners- naive! Thought we would put some new carpet in and get the seats redone and blaze on down the lake.

After removing the old carpet it was obvious that I had a stringer rot problem and it was time for a complete restoration. I set out to restore this boat to 1973 condition and wanted to keep everything as original as I could.

Thanks to the Correct Craft Fan community I was able to rebuild this boat to a high standard with no previous experience. I went with a no foam rebuild and used Doug Fir for the stringers. All wood was CPES’ed and every screw is sealed with 3m 5200. I used epoxy resin from US composites and the recommended 22/44/88 and biaxial layup.

Hours of wet sanding and buffing brought the gelcoat back to life and we repainted the faded waterline.

I had all the seals and gaskets replaced on the motor and painted it while it was apart. She is running strong and we are now enjoying our little red rocket!

Thank you to all who gave me advice and a hard time during the project! I have made some new friends here and look forward to meeting many more.
