Became a Sport owner almost by default. I was actually looking for a 94 or later SN196 project boat. I was unable to find one at the price I was prepared to pay. A fellow CCfan from Australia (Chooper) highlighted this Sport to me in Lake Tahoe Nevada. It had quite a few hours on it and the interior needed a few skins. It did have a nice tandem axle trailer though.
After talking with another fellow CCfan in San Francisco (bkhallpass) about pricing of similar boats, I asked him if he would take a look at this boat in Lake Tahoe for me. As circumstances worked out Brian was unable to get there due to work commitments in his new job. In the end I decided for the price I would take the risk and purchase it. With just the extra pictures the owner provided showing it’s condition.
Scott the previous owner was an up front guy who ran the local ski school at Tahoe. He was great to deal with. It is often hard getting boat owners to accept overseas buyers as legitimate these days with all the internet scams about.
Eventually the boat made it to the Port of Brisbane in Australia after sitting at a Long Beach location longer than it should have.
Really happy with the performance and handling of this boat. It has amazing storage space and passenger room. It was a well thought out design in 1998 that still stands up today.
Thanks to the CCfans who helped make this boat purchase possible.
