Reid Pinkham has infected yet another innocent bystander with his love for the classic Correct Craft.
After looking for almost a year we were able to find this fine Mustang in Michigan. With just a couple of weekends of tinkering and buffing this all original classic has become the apple of my eye. Aside from the Chrysler 273 engine, this boat is exactly what I was looking for. But now after having it for a couple of months I am very impressed with Chrysler’s smallest small block. I am currently upgrading this little power house by replacing the standard low compression 273-318 marine heads with early model small chamber "Commando 273 heads" boosting the compression from 8.9 to approx 9.5. The heads have been port matched to the modified Edelbrock intake and gasket matched to increase the exhaust flow. Modifications to the water flow thru the intake are necessary should you ever attempt to install an after market intake on a pre-1975 dual water pump engine, in order to maintain the designed flow thru the engine. I have also upgraded the carb by adding new Holley 600cfm, and have upgraded the cam with a new Clevite cam (Reid still has a couple of these laying around). I will be sure to update everyone once I have it back together and on the water.
