My fiancee and I went to spend a weekend at her friend’s house on a lake in Maine. We were promised skiing and wakeboarding. We saw an unassuming little boat moored next to their dock. I noticed no outboard on it and figured it to be a little inboard. Well this little boat was a ’71 Mustang with an Interceptor 289. Holding onto a ski rope behind her I watched this little beast leap out of the water with a roar and felt my arms nearly come out their sockets. So started our love affair with inboard V-8’s. I started searching for old Correct Craft boats for sale. I found this neglected Southwind with a sad story in New Hampshire. Even with a pulled hamstring from the Mustang my little woman told me to buy it. Her gear-head, classic mechanical anything, lover of a father wanted in on it so he is half of our restoration team! We are close to having her repowered and hope to hit the lake within a month!
