February 2012 - Just sold my ’96 Ski Nautique and upgraded to a ’97 Super Sport, my 3rd Correct Craft, and this one is a very special boat. It was originally Walt Meloon’s boat. It was the only one made with these colors, almond hull with maroon and hunter green stripes. It is completely optioned out, and has the GT40 engine and a FCT2 tower. After Walt sold it, it went to Joe Oliver, former catcher for the Cincinatti Reds. I found it for sale in Tampa being sold by a jeweler on a loan default. I feel pretty lucky to have found it.
It was not in the best of shape when I found it, although it had a new interior, the gelcoat was pretty oxidized. I spent 2 weekends wetsanding, buffing, and polishing it back to life. Then I put on new decals & pinstriping. I also replaced the rudder and prop-shaft packing, new steering cable, added tower speakers and a bimini top, brought back the teak platform, and a bunch of other little things.
I’ve always loved the lines of the Super Sports and Super Air Nautiques and am proud to own this one!
