I first learned to ski behind a Ski Nautique at a resort on Lake Lure in the late 70’s. I spent my paper route money to rent the boat and driver. $20 an hour was a fortune for a 10 year old. I have not progressed much as a skier, but ever since, I have dreamed of owning my own Correct Craft.
I found this one in 2009. Another fan, Joe (akabulla), helped me look the boat over. Knowing what I know now, I may have tried to wait a little longer, pay a little less, or find a boat that has seen a little less action, but she is still solid and runs all day without complaint.
Over the winter of 2011, we moved to a house on a lake. Over the summer of 2012, the kids started to move from the tube to skis, and I got up on a wake board for the first time (first try!).
I would like to restore the interior to original colors, and maybe add GT 40 heads, and find a way to fix the leaky invertaflow (again). I will likely switch to a double taper shaft and try to decide if I should restore the stringers and floor. I am afraid if a get started taking things apart, I won’t be able to stop until the boat is bare.
That’s my Nautique, that’s my story.
