I'm a family boater who grew up skiing and kneeboarding behind friend's Bayliners while drooling over Ski Nautiques and Mastercraft.

*****The adventure began May 30, 2018*****

My son Kyle (9) and I test drove and purchased a capable '85 CC SN 2001 with $4800 cash. After much research I chose to seek out a Correct Craft 2001. It seems the hull on the 2001 is wakeboard friendly and is a best bang for the buck boat with simple direct drive V-8 I can maintain. I looked at a few boats that were within a reasonable driving distance. The previous owner put in a new steering cable, new carburetor, points, plug wires and kept the wood teak oiled. The hull and wood stringers are solid. It was always stored inside on a rack at a marina and all yearly maintenance performed, including winterization.

The kids (Justin-14, Elise-12 and Kyle-9) and I got what we think is a great running boat we can spend time fixing up together and have pride on the lake as it gets better with each project. My wife is excited to see us tackling this project together and looks forward to enjoying days on the lake with us.

We plan on refurbishing the interior (steering wheel, speedometers, seats, seat frames, carpet), cleaning the gel coat and installing original graphics, fixing various plastic components (vent covers), while driving it as much as possible!

We are looking for a lighter single axle trailer. Brakes are a plus but not necessary. Right now (Jul 18) it's on a double axle home built trailer that is a bit too heavy duty for what we need. Also, an original sized trailer will allow us to get it into the shop for Winter storage. We don't mind getting a trailer that needs work for a good price. The kids and I will replace the bunkers, tires, even strip and paint it to make it look good.

June 2018 - Driving the boat, unloading, practice docking, loading and general inboard maneuvering for my wife and I. She's a quick study. Swimming and lake reconnaissance was next.

July 2018 - Repaired existing stereo and speaker wiring, cleaned interior thoroughly, installed RV battery shut off, repaired trailer wire grounds and safety chains.
