Does anyone know how Correct Craft chose "2001" as a model number? Through what years did they use the 2001 series?

The 2001 hull was built from 1982-1989.
Ive read the name comes from the overall length (with platform) of 20' 01". Not sure how true that is, though. |

So would a "2001" be considered a 18'9" boat or 20'1" boat??? I'm shocked that the BFN is the same length, as they look so much bigger than the SN.

I would think technically its a 18' 9" boat since the platform isnt permanantly attached.

That's what I thought. For insurance purposes, I said 18'9".

My memory is that it was named that way because of marketing and nothing to do with the overall length. The hull for the next century wasn't it?

20th or 21st century? Then what does the 01 mean at the end of 20? If it's 21st century, then it would be a '90's boat. I think Tim is right and I recall seeing something about it on the2001.com.

In 1982, I wonder if it meant "your boat will have tremendous resale value as a wakeboard boat in 2001"

That would make a lot more sense. 20' 01" isnt even the running surface since it includes the platform. ![]() |

That's a good one, M3. We're still seeing the 2001 models going for $12K-15K on this site. Hum, pay $19K in 1986 and sell for $15K in 2006?!?! Find me a truck like that! Now would that be American or Japanese?...D'oh! Ken |

Hey, I bought a 1978 Ski Tique new for $7,000. Used it for 10 years and sold it for $7,000 to buy my 88. Gotta love that

Yes, depending on the options. The deluxe interior and 454 option kicked it into the low 20's. The 454 HO added another $3,000. The Silver Nautique sold for exactly $25,000. So the range was from $19K to $25K for the '86's.
I know these prices, because in 1986, I dreamed about getting one. My Dad and I stopped into Denny's Marine in Grafton, MA and looked at them. No dice, my Dad didn't see the need in a $19K ski boat. So we bought our 1985 left over 8 HP Evinrude for our 12' Gamefisher tri-hull boat. That cost $800 at the time. For some reason, I thought $19K was reasonable for a Nautique, even though I was 13 years old. Ken |

That doesnt really matter though, there are ALOT of companies out there that include the swim platform in the overall lenghths. I'm not really a fan of it, but it doesnt really make a difference... Nate |

I read an article on the costs of boating, it included the purchase of a new boat, and all the little details associated with owning and operating the boat and then it was divided by hours used. not necessarily a ski boat unless its an 2008
it equaled $500.00 per hour. i had a hard time swallowing that number |

So do I... I wouldn't be able to afford it on my salary if that number were true. I'm pretty sure my 89 doesn't cost nearly as much ![]() |
