Just to let you know my stock '85 SN's gas tank has baffles. I had it out to fix the cracked filler neck while cleaning and drying it, I noticed two sets of baffels in there. |

I wonder why my tank doesn't have any baffles?Anyways I got my tank done but my camera was dead so no picks.It came to 32 gallons which is five more than factory.I found a universal sender with the same resistance so I didn't have to rig the factory.
Btw,I put baffles in every tank I build not to combat slosh but to keep the fuel on the pickup in hard turns.Slosh is not much of a issue in the car world and I would suspect even less in a boat. |

How close does the fuel pickup pipe get to the bottom of the tank? I remember looking at mine thinking it was pretty close. Maybe an 1/8" of an inch? What material did you use? It looks like stainless but I have seen some shinny aluminum and couldn't tell from the pics. Can't wait to see the engine start to go in! I would love to take on a V-Drive conversion after seeing that first one on the2001.com. very cool stuff. |

Correction,my factory tank has two baffles that I couldn't see because it was dirty.Doesn't have a bathtub though.
Aka,my tank is made out of stainless and is only three feet wide so I installed a tub with no baffles.I could see how a factory tank would need it though. Ill get some pics up later. |

Ryan,
What make you decide to put the tank in the front. I thought in the middle was the preferred location. I know you will need front weight but having a bigger area ballast would take care of it. |

Anthony,the ballast is under the gastank in the nose.Theres also a bag under the center floor plus two in the rear.If I had put the tank in the center I would have only had 23 gallons.

Jon,its a tight fit but it works.The wheels have to be machined to fit the larger hubs and the cap has to be cut to expose the grease nipples

This is my conservative guesstimate of the interior.I think I can get almost another foot of floor space.From the layout of the boat a wraparound will seat six people and the factory bench will do the same so we are going to improve the factory seats a bit.

you know what comes around goes around, well I lent my TRS drive alignment tool under the promise of return, well a year went by and no tool, I lost his number, well down at the dry rack, long and behold I see his Wellcraft sitting in the rack....I did take one of his props, and left a note on the back.....it read "see me "Eric"

That is looking really good! Are you going to lay carpet or leave it like that? What did you use to paint it? Is it Epoxy based?

Joey,I used a enamel mix that I generaly use as a trailer paint to combat rust.It works good being nonhydroscopic.Over that I will lay carpet.
On the stringers I used a ton of glass and resin.I would guesstimate 12 gallons in the whole boat. Engine goes in next week.

You need to slow down, we were hoping this would entertain us all winter but at this rate you'll be bored again by new year.
That interior layout is going to be fantastic. Not sure if I missed it but what are your plans for covering the engine? Are you going to build a sun deck over it or just a doghouse? |
