Be that as it may.....WE DO NOT NEED, NOR WANT AN ESCORT FROM BARNY
I am posting here what was told to Karen by a rep of FWC. Take it for what it is worth. We are 600 miles away, and trying to do our best to make this event as hassel free as possible.
We have a back up plan this year anyway for the raft up. Lets wait and see how things work out next week end.

http://myfwc.com/news , not a word of anything on their website..going back to last year.. I haven't heard of them closing off the glen for any reason and their hasn't been one article in the paper, etc. I know they were trying last year again because of the eel grass. But I don't think anything ever came of it....

You know I was thinking about it today, with like 30 boats we should just give em a ring and get an escort. Most of them are usually pretty decent unless your just being plain ignorant or drunker than you usually get a a christmas party.

[QUOTE=The Godfather]

The Glen will be packed this time.....

Sorry to bust your bubble Dave............
Florida Conservation Dept. has blocked off the entrance, no boats allowed inside the Glen till early April.
We will be allowed to raft up outside the markers, this was data given to Karen on Thursday by Florida Fish and Game.
Also a note to all that bring boats.

Make sure you do not give Barney a reason ...
Have all your papers,PFD's,Fire Ext., Throwable and be observant of the NO WEAKE ZONE... Florida is in a cash crunch, let's not donate to their bank account.......

That being said, looking forward to meeting all the new attendee's and seeing old friends made with the help of this site........

                    SEE YALL NEXT WEEKEND

I've got a 90 qt igloo cooler I can fill up with ice or small people. Since theirs only about 3-4 places to get ice within 15 miles that are open past sundown I'll load it up. I just bought a new yeti 65 qt for cold snacks.

Okay Fans we are T-minus 7 days and counting...... We will be churning up the St. Johns and Silver Rivers with our Correct Crafts, soaking up the Fla sunshine and "LIVING the Correct Craft Life". We still need some folks to sign up to bring Ketchup, mustard, pickles, onions, relish, etc. for Saturday nights cookout. We could really use a couple of Big coolers of ice for Sat night and maybe even a few gallons of good ol' southern Sweet Tea. We have no idea how many Fans will be in attendance as we have late sign ups and Orlando Nautiques has posted this event on FB as Ross has already mentioned. A reminder to what Billy has stated; bring a little extra for those who are flying in and some of the locals that haven't signed up.

Toward north Florida where i live its just about become a "NO TOLERANCE" policy with alcohol once again be very careful

On a more serious note the SJRR planning Staff have received this email from bigwavedave regarding "Barney and Friends" Fans please take note:

******************** WARNING ALL SJRR ATTENDEE'S*************

Spent 3 days on the St. John's River this past week. We went over 300 miles. Found out some info that we need to tell everybody before they come to the river.

Silver Springs: they have a small sign as you enter that is hard to see--no alcohol is allowed! All the locals are drinking their beer in plastic cups. If a police boat comes in it is very easy to spill the contents, but hard to get rid of the empty can!

Astor: there is a full time sheriff who loves to give tickets--no warnings! Idle speed means idle, period! They have another sign on the river that says Slow Speed, Minimum Wake--if your wake crests over, you will get a ticket. On my Nautique, that meant I had to go just a touch over idle. Florida must need money!

River: the water is warm, the water level is excellent, the skiing and boating was great! See you soon, Dave Rezabek

Sweet, The cooking duties are all shared, cook what you bring and share with those that keep looking at what you brought. This seemed to work just fine last year, Boudin and deer burgers from the Sutton's...
The key word here is share the duties,if we all do our part it allows all to enjoy the food and the clean up afterwards will only take a short time..........Then the party can start..........Boat dr

However be thankful for the work we have friends in the construction trades that are close or already have went under. Keep up the good work

Things have been real tough the last couple years. About November things took off like crazy. Of course we had laid all of the help off, so I have been going 11-12 hours a day, 7 days a week for about 2 months trying to keep up. Don't know if it is time to hire or not!

You know what would be interesting? To see someone SKI on a shot ski, and watch the water shoot up thru the holes maybe hosing the heck out of them.
