Hey mars88', I posted this acouple of years ago so I copied it and reposted.
I have an 88' 2001 SN and use a Skylon extended pole. I bought an aftermarket top for it from Overtons and customized it myself. I placed the pivot points and eyelets for the straps on the rope rubrail. (I didn't want "extra" holes in the gel coat not to mention pivot points on the rail of the boat just sitting there for someone to break off or stub a toe when entering or exiting the boat.) I placed them so that the rear of the bimini top is about 1/2" from the front of skylon. I split the seam in the front to allow the cable and strap for the skylon to pass through then rest*tched/reinforced the seam where I split it. This set up has worked great for the 4 years that I've had the boat and at all speeds. I haven't had a single problem to date. Post Note: I've seen guys who split the seam at the rear of the top to allow the skylon to pass through the top instead of butting against it. |

i butted mine. i still had to cut a hole for the cable. i will take some pics this weekend. it worked out the holes were the same on the intake vents in the front so no holes up there. the shade is great! esp in texas when its 100 degrees everyday for 4 months in a row. do it, do it.
