I was wondering if there is any difference in the hulls between 82 and 89 2001 models. I have an 83 and have friends with 86 and 88 models and the wakes seem to have suttle differences at wake boarding speeds.

exact same hulls, the deck is a little different.

wake difference could be from the boats being weighted differently and possible different rope length.

Yep same hull. Check out these pictures of how similar the 2001 hull is to the Super Air.
I guess CC hit a winner with the 2001 hull.

The hull shape is the same, but in 89 they started using the stronger and lighter AME3000 resin.

I believe the 89 also incorporated a tranny with a gear reduction instead of the 1:1
