Most of the snow is headed just south of me this week, we may catch some Tuesday night. Im headed your way later this week, Holiday valley NY for a couple days of skiing with the family while all you Steeler fans stay home to watch the game...

Probably ruin the fire mask, I would get some good thick 3-M masks and goggles, dont forget to cover any exposed skin with vasoline, makes the paint on your face wipe off without touline, xylene or paint thinners. Tear it up!
Take your work seriously, not yourself.

Thanks Pete! I have 4 tyvek coveralls. A huge pile of sandpaper for wet sanding.
I need a roll of plastic to cover all walls in the garage, as well as the floor. I have plenty of tape. Two boxes of gloves.
I need to ask a fireman friend if I might be able to use a mask from the fire dept. That would work, right?

Hi Pete,

I want to do the gel. That way I can say "I" did it instead of "here's the mustang I restored by paying others to do the work". I've truly been enjoying it. It has become my "sanity". That is unless I really stink at applying gel, but I've been doing ok in the body shop with the paint. My bad habit is standing on my tippy-toes and that is why the mustang is almost sitting on the floor upside down. At 5' 5" everything seems really high up in the air.
Yes, we have been looking at the different guns and tips and are going to try an auto paint gun. I think the gravity fed will be too hard to use.
The guys direct me half-way in a direction, give 10 different scenerios and then stand back. So far...everything has worked out well.

It will be good practice for you before the gel project! Are you going to have your body shop friend do the gel or are you going to have shot at it? You've been so ambitious so far!! Has he looked into the equipment - gun and fluid tip?

Rolling right along; I am ordering gel supplies tomorrow from Fibreglast.

In the meantime...Blink called about having the trailer blasted, primed and painted he got a price of 750.00. Of course I had to call someone else to comparison shop and I got a price of 200.00 to 275.00 tops to blast and prime. They do not "paint". He wants to see it first, but said 275.00 would be high price. Trailer is on it's way right now. Hey, I can paint.

Windshield is next on the list. Whew...I'm not forgetting anything am I???

Come on Moj'

I'll send over some pigment and gel coat. Maybe you can help me figure this out.

I asked everyone that I called "why" the jump in pricing. Didn't really have a solid answer. I asked if all gelcoat had the same ingredients (for lack of better words)...

A gentleman from Fibreglast said that there is a standard for gelcoat and no matter where I decide to purchase to make sure it meets the highest marine app. standards. He couldn't explain ratings to me though.

Doug, I think you are right on the nose with that statement.

I did price a few more.

Spectrum (matched) 407.87 for 1 gallon
                  1105.00 for 5 gallon
suppose matching isn't fun?

Fiberglast 259.95 5 gallon they do not match
             their pigments are 15.00

I can do this.....I think I can, I think I can

You can probably eliminate the red pigment!! I would suggest that you try to match the test patch mixing formula colors as close as possible and mix your own color.

Oh wow! Why the difference in price with the gel coat?

Minicraft     5 gal $783.75
US Composites 5 gal $186.50

The color pigments are a poly grade pigment paste. Unlike paint, there are few colors. Only 13.

Minicraft will match for an additional 75.00
US Composites does not match, you're on your own. Hmmmmmm

US Composites explained that they do not have a middleman, so they are able to keep prices low. I told them I didn't need a middle man, I need a matching man!

What do you think gentlemen?

There are other things that give it away also.
First- Way to clean, no hand prints anywhere
second- disposable girls razors neatly stacked on a spotless sink
third- scented hand soap in a bottle, no lava.
forth- and the dead give away....the lid is down!

these "guys" are ether closely monitored or extremely well taken care of.

LOL-Skinaut thats the wall of fame for two boys(one a Maine Coon) that have passed on. The pictures are deceptive as they were a Petsmart opportunity and we didn't have many pictures so those have stuck. But you're right- everybody mentions that!!!.

Ryan,

Believe it or not the trailer made it home. Blink put air in the tires and drove away. That's nothing compared to the Barracuda he hauled home.

We dock in Bridgewater. Love it there. We have an 82-2001.

We make a few trips to Pgh. It's nice there but tends to get a little boat busy.

There's rumor that they are getting rid of Dashields. That will raise us up 4'.
