Replaced the oil 2 months ago, found original 20W20 oil with PCM mentioned on it and decided not to spend lots of time flushing the whole transmission and just replace it with a single extraction and filling.
thanks for all the support |

I have heard of guys using a baster or some type of vaccum pump to drain/remove the old fluid - sound about right?

Just like Eric said- Dex III or equivalent. Stick with conventional. Avoid synthetic and high mileage formulations. I prefer Valvoline.

it should say on the bottle "compatible with Dex/merc
just no synthetics on the bronze plates, check your alignment too, forget about the alignment times are tough lol i think 3 is compatible but pretty sure 6 is not |

On my 351 pro-boss (1992 Sport Nautique) there is a PCM-40a 1.23:1 transmission, 530hrs. After 500hrs The previous owner replaced the transmission oil with generic oil for automatic transmissions.
I want to replace the oil to be sure the right oil is in there. I plan to replace the oil three times, every 10hrs, to make sure the old stuff is out. My questions: 1 - What is the standard oil for this transmission? 2 - What is the best oil for this transmission, since I'm fully replacing it anyway? Dextron Iv, Dextron 3, other? And what brand / exact specification is needed? (I have to buy it in Europe, the more details the better) |
