I just heard a few represenatives (liberal) are proposing a war tax that is income based going up to 5%, to pay for the war. Somehow, somewhere, I recall national defense was the main reason for forming a Federal gvt. Our boat is way out of the bouys, heading for the sandbar!

I bet the increase in shipping from internet sales in the last few years has more than help offset any fuel related expenses.

Wait until the Fed starts paying bond interest by issuing more bonds. They will solve liquidity problems by printing more money. Believe me, it's coming. The next few years are going to make the late 70's look like a stable period, inflation wise.

They don't mention the fact that they never reduced rates after all the massive "fuel surcharges" they imposed when fuel was 30-40% higher a year an a half ago.

After careful evaluation of customers’ needs and the rising costs that affect all businesses, UPS has set 2010 rates. 2010 Rates Effective January 4, 2010* UPS Ground Service will increase 4.9%; Air and International Services will increase a net 4.9%. The rate increase for Air and International Services is based on a 6.9% increase in the base rate and a 2% reduction in the Air and International Services fuel surcharge.
