Been waiting in the suspense all day for an update!

Keys come out of ours. Keeps the kids from turning on the ignition and running up our hours

Did you check that smaller black lead to the battery?

There may also be a smaller red lead on the positive side which has a fault-prone inline fuse in it. I think that just runs the fuel pumps so it probably has no effect on this particular problem, but worth a check for sure.

No Familiarity with the system but I one hundred percent agree with the battery problem diagnosis.. based on the symptoms.

Although my boat is a 2001, not a 2000, I think you have a battery issue. My boat behaved the same way when the guys at the shop ran the batteries down listening to the stereo. Before you go buying a new keypad, hook up a new battery, or, at minimum take a good battery out of your truck, and try it.

I put chargers on mine, yada, yada, nothing worked. Put new batteries in and it's been fine for 3 years now.

Just finished a 3 hr session working on the 2000 Sport that started this discussion. No luck at all. At times the lights on the touch pad go on dim. When some buttons are pushed they may stay on dim, but if a button outside of the number keypad, the blower button for instance, is pushed we then would lose all lights. We unhooked the blower but that didn't change a thing. NOTHING ever lights anywhere else on the dash. Chased the emergency stop switch, (behind and down from throttle), thought that was flaky but it checked good. VERY weird troubles for sure. We are kinda down to a super bad keypad or problems in the large circuit breaker control box. Any other ideas? Thanks

Dozens? I don't know about that. I recall seeing a couple over the years out of the thousands in service. From my personal experience it's a super-reliable, modular system. It's never cost us a moment of water time and I don't see it doing so in the future. Personally I'd take it over miles of wiring and crimped connectors.

The WOW factor is also impressive. At the first touch of the dash, the backlighting kicks in on all the controls- a nice amber. Turning on an accessory causes that key's light to turn green rather than amber. The heater's 3 speed control is handled by hitting that button 3 times- low, medium, high, off. Somebody really put time into the smart pod. Behind the pod the wiring is ultra-simple- a basic connector going to each keypad. This brochure pic doesn't do the backlighting any justice. This dash was so futuristic and so leading edge that the rest of the industry still hasn't caught up. The touch-button interface on our club's Malibu is laughable in comparison.

Don't believe so on the ignition switch. We checked all breakers on the motor. The problem is wiring in/under the dash. It has to be no?

On this page it shows our breaker box. I'm hoping the box didn't get fried somehow (you'd think the breakers would break before-hand)

Also on this page is the keypads, wondering if those could have gone bad.

This boat started fine before it was delivered. We know the seller and have proof. I don't doubt his truthfulness.

Something happened on the drive, or there is a switch we're not seeing. Water ruined something. grrrr
