We had a marina in NE Tn for quite a few years. We found the best way to clean hulls was with a steam cleaner to get the algae off and then snowbol toilet bowl cleaner to cut the lime deposit. The key was to hit it with the steam cleaner as soon as it came out of the water, if the algae dried it turned to concrete. We used muriatic acid until we found the snowbol. The acid worked but was brutal on the trailers. A good coat of paste wax after, helped to prolong the next cleaning. The boats up there would slime up in 10 days during the hot summer months.

When I purchased my boat it had been neglected for a couple years and had a lot of scum dried on it under the water line. I tried the Acid boat cleaner and the toilet bowl cleaner. None of it was working very well, so I tried some Purple Power and it worked great! I just sprayed it on full strength let it sit for a little bit and used a stiff brush to scrub it then rinsed off with the hose.

That Acid stuff is nasty, and it will cause your trailer to rust like crazy.

Give the PP a try, it only costs about $5 a gallon at Wallyworld or Autozone.

I use a product called Slimey Grimey. It's a poweder you mix with water and spray on the hull. Then you rise it off. Just follow the directions on the product.
