I am in the construction or what used to be the construction industry so I went to my local supplier, order the 20 oz 50 x 6 for 7.80 a square .
Cant remember the brand name the sample board hand an anchor on it. I want to say marineer, but not real sure. The carpet is nice easy to work with. The supply house had the transition in colors the burgundy transition matched up nice. I did not use the 50' I think a guy could easily do it with 45. I have not done the back boards still waiting on pt to dry out so I can give it a little dose of epoxy.

Also wondering, where did you get the carpet from? I am thinking about replacing carpet this winter in my boat.

Pete, I agree on the pricey but I have sprayed both sides and just installed w/o the wait time, This was forgiving enough to move if needed and still stuck like crazy. I was in the business and kinda took an occasional demo can home. There is a piece of that codueroy looking indoor / outdoor crap on my aluminum decked dock that I put on about three summers ago. Constantly in the weather, left out in the snow, and aside for being a comfortable place for ducks to poop has stayed on great.

The carpet glue like Henery's has changed over the years due to EPA requiremments just like every other quality product that was out there so whatever you use YMMV.

1st pic was at least 8 months ago. What a journey I really do not think i would have got this far without all of your help. Hopefully I can pass on some usefull info to someone This has definetly been a stepping stone. I really would lie to try and rebuild a classic oneday. Not today though

Christines marine carpet seems pricey/ same carpet for less is out there

Hi guys,
I could not find the Henry's 263. WEnt to the carpet supply house and bought a solvent based glue. Works real good tacks up nice and seems to be very sticky.

All that 3M spray adhesive is really a solvent based "contact" adhesive. It's pricey for the amount you do get out of the "rattle can". For such a large area and having the luxury of some flexibility to do some minor movement adjustments (contact adhesives do not allow you to do that) I really feel the premium Henry's waterproof adhesive is the way to go.

+1 on this statement, a boat drenched for a while might in fact turn the lower grade henrys glue back to wet glue.. it sticks when redried but it is no way to live

You may have a hard time finding the Henry's 263 at one of the home centers. They typically carry the lesser grade outdoor Henry's which is not truly waterproof.

Believe it or not I had excellent results with 3M trim adhesive. Adjustable spray, you can do a little at a time. Variable width spray.
I've done several boats with it.

I'm close to ordering carpet from Christine's and had this same question. Here's a compilation of the responses I got in a few back-and-forth emails:

We (Christine's) don't sell the glue because of the restrictions for shipping flammables. Home Depot , Lowes, etc. sell glue for outdoor carpet which is the same as marine carpet.

One of the biggest myths I see people talking about on the forums is about cleaning the floor. It does not have to be perfectly smooth. You will not feel any of the old glue through the new carpet unless it's a big blob. I've read where people use wire brushes, grinders, acetone (very dangerous), etc. to get the floor spotless and it is a total waste of time.
