I'm an inboard guy all the way. I've had 3 Fish Nautiques, 1 Master Craft, 1 American Skier and 1 Ski Nautique... and they all have the click.

TRBenj- will do, should be simple...ha, famous last words!

It sounds like the f/n/r detents are vague. A morse should snick into and out of gear.

I would do exactly as you describe- disassemble, clean and regrease. It should feel like a million bucks afterwards. If it goes back to feeling vague once the cables are reconnected, then replace them.

short version- We just got a 83 SN from a long shop stay.. runs great, throttle and shift need a slight adjustment (found the how to inside the forums) but my question is- There is no "Click" when shifting from forward to neutral to reverse. I have never had a morse not click or have that definitive "feel" for when she is in gear. My initial thought is pull the guts out of the morse, WD40 and loosen up old grease and funk, regrease and she may start "clicking". Has anyone else had this issue and more importantly, is there a "fix" to it?

Could it be the shift on the tranny? doesn't seem like it would be.

Thanks for any advice!
