Bailer plug for 88 Ski Nautique 2001 battery box

Haven't met an older Correct Craft yet that didn't have a little water in the bilge sloshing around. Not too many older CC's have the dripless packing that I've seen. No worries unless you don't have a bilge pump or your the boat Doc.


On second thought if you don't have the dripless packing on the drive shaft then you'd better see water in the bilge as you are supposed to have a couple of drips coming from the coupling. If you don't then it's too tight.

I'm still trying to get this nautique running again, I bought it in January and I'm trying to fix everything on it. My thought is if I get water in the battery box, something that shouldn't normally happen anyway, I can just pull the drain plug. I like keeping my battery clean, and I will not have to worry about it if I do get water in the bilge for some reason.

Tim's question is valid. Why would you want to stop your battery box from draining? If fluid is going the other way hopefully it is a one-time thing.

My battery box was plugged with tree leaves and general black slime when I got it (Look here or here if interested). After a lot of cleaning the bilge area is now clean from the battery box to the stern, as it was intended to be.

Had same problem. I just use a bottle stopper from the hardware store. Drilled a hole in it & put a screw in for removal purpose.
