I was at the dermatologist this morning for a screening.

Had one last week. Clear Clean and not another for 10 years as per my GI Dr.
The prep work is worse then the procedure by far. Yucky tasting stuff!

Even for the younger crew, I had a buddy pass away (heart) more then 12 years ago now (early 30's), it was the impetus for me starting regular doctor visits. I knew blood pressure was a problem and have been on diuretics, statins and ace inhibitors since. its a pain, but as my doc put it back then, "we cure heart disease all the time now, through early identification and meds to control." Started the colonoscopy routine when I turned 40 due to family history. It is a royal pain in the ass because I am a pilot and there are so many hoops to jump through to maintain my flight medical, but I am confident I am postponing the necessity of the stents or bypass surgeries.

I lost my Dad to what started out as colon cancer that was not caught in time. Even though it's a pain in the a$$, I promote the old colonoscopy often to my friends who are at that age. I have had 4 myself, and my brother's get theirs regularly (here comes the jokes). There are things we must do when we get older, but just remember; there's an alternative to getting old.

After reading about Vic's loss of his Dad, I thought I'd share this with the rest of you. My doctor in the past tried to get me to do one of those heart checks where they put something in you and then do a MRI. I always baulked because the 500 dollar test is not covered by insurance. Well partly due to the loss of my Dad this year and family history I gave in, could have used that money on a nice ARE shaft but what the heck . Anyway after having the test it was decided that that they needed to go in to check. I ended up getting a stint put in. On my follow up check up my heart doctor asks me how I felt which was fine to which he responds I bet you don't feel any different,which I admitted that I didn't. I had an 85% blockage in an arterie which is known to them as the widow maker. So if there are any of you out there that are on the fence your loved ones will thank you for it--------
