Greg,
Did you ever work this out? I'm looking for a complete boom and think that I could make yours work on my 86 2001. Let me know if you are interested in selling and how much. Robert 914 four nine four 8747 cell |

Nice work Greg. My adapter may not work you because of your tower.

Not to threadjack, but Greg, I love that picture of your boat. Number 1, the boat's badass, and 2, if ever there was a happy dude standing in his new boat, that's it!

Link from a third party site, uploading directly to CCF doesn't seem to be working.

For those who are able to post pictures you must have super powers. I have tried again and refuse to accept that I am this computer illiterate. I am off to have a good cry (in my beer).

I would prefer to go with a straight boom as opposed to the countour version. I will be back up at the lake late this week and can get some additional pictures / dimensions then.

So you no longer want to use it like you previously did on the sport? I have a straight piece I would trade if yours will work for me. I need some better pics though, showing the for/aft angle, etc.

The bottom one - essentially the end is roughly 1-1/4" square with two holes drilled through all four (4) faces.

Im sure pictures will help clear up the confusion, but I think some terms are getting mixed up here. It sounds like Adam has a BI "Straight Contour" which has a single vertical curve in it. It sounds like Greg is selling the more common "Universal Contour" which has a compound contour- it curves both up and aft... and was designed for boats that had windshields that extended further back than the pylon (late 80's and early 90's Prostars, etc).
The Universal Contour can in fact be installed backwards (so it curves up and forward) on some boats. I believe Alan had one installed this way on his '81, and I know Brad has one set up this way on his '86 2001. I would imagine a '88 could be done without much of a problem. The issue, as mentioned, is the boss where it installs in the clamp... some are only set up for one direction (rectangular boss), others are set up for both (square boss). The square boss can be drilled in 2 directions to allow it to be used on either port or stbd, or alternatively, curve forward. Brad had a rectangular boss milled and drilled... so if youve got the tools, it can be done. |

If its just a case of getting the message that you've already uploaded that photo, you can just change the name of the photo you are trying to upload.

HW - will be at the lake next week and grab some pic's. The end that goes into the clamp is square and not beveled. I have not installed on the boat but will give it a go next week. Thinking that Santa needs a barefoot pic

How do I post a photo from my iPad? It keeps saying I have already have posted a file with that name. It's is already resized smaller so it should fit the size constraints. I could email it if anyone is interested.

Oh, So it's not a square at the clamp end? I could handle drilling a hole but I don't have a mill so that would be a lot of filing.

if its like mine it goes out from the clamp, up, then out over the gunnel...and the way mine fits in the clamp you have to rotate it 180, 90 doesn't match up.

Greg, so your current section sweeps up and back? Email me pics, wondering if I can make it work sweeping up and forwards (so rolling it 90).

Or you can have a machine shop build an adapter for your contour. That's what I did and it works fine. It consists of a piece of aluminum pipe that fits over the round and flat part of the boom. They then welded a piece of flat stock into that pipe at the proper angle so the contour boom is parallel to the floor. I will try to get a picture of this as it is becoming very hard to explain.. |

The new boat will take a straight boom so I am looking to either trade the contour section I have for a straight section or simply purchase.
