had similar issue last year with my 87 sn ...fuel line was collapsing from being ruined by ethanol in the gas. I replaced the line from the top of the tank to the fuel ands water separator and then from there to the carb...problem solved

If you haven't fixed problem, check fuel pickup tube in gas tank. Take apart and check the two screens at top of pick up tube. They get clog with debris.

After that, try running boat with gas cap loose. It's rare, but the vent hose can get clogged.

I would start by removing and inspecting the anti-siphon valve, if it's clogged up and restricted it will starve the fuel flow.

Co-Owner of that 90 ski here...last time the boat was on the water, it wouldn't die at full throttle while pulling a skier, but would die shortly after slowing back down to idle; as well as being starved when you gun it. What are the symptoms of the accelerator pump being bad?

Hmmm... You'd have to see if it would hold the speed under load; like cruising in the water.
Wouldn't necessarily have to be with a skier. I'm just trying to figure out if it's just an accelerator pump issue, or a fuel flow/restriction issue. |

Yes it is holding the speed in a fake lake situtation, not sure with a skier behind.

What if you ease it up to higher speeds. Will it be able to hold the higher speed?

my 1990 ski nautique with the PCM 351 is cranking and idling normally, but when we gun it, as if to pull a slalom skier out of the water, it just dies. You can hear the carb trying to pull a lot of air in, and it seems like there just isn't enough fuel to support what you're trying to do. We have just replaced the fuel filter/separator, thinking that was our issue, but apparently not. Just to clarify, the carburetor IS getting fuel. Help?
