Paul, that's why I used to push the conversion because for less money you're starting fresh with no wear on the pinion assembly. |

5025 I think is the p/n for the helm conversion. 90590 is the correct cable to match the new helm and is a ton cheaper than the original S2205 cable. They are identical other than the helm stub which will bolt right up to your existing tilt mechanism.

That happened to me with my '95 also. Ordered new cable due to excess play in steering installed new cable still same play. Tracked it down to worn steering pinion replaced pinion but then you need the different cable for the wider steering pinion mount. |

Zach could tell you if he sees this. I had to change the cable on mine and opted to change the lower helm unit but can't remember why. The upper with the tilt mechanism is re used.

Gotcha. I wonder how Jessie did it? By the time I buy the new helm I'm probably in it for the cost of the OEM cable. Maybe I'll call Vince at SkiDim and ask some questions.

You may need an adapter or modification... In my post above, I mentioned that I swapped out the helm. I did that so that I could use the newer style cable (1998 and up). The helm upgrade was required for the newer cable. JQ |

For some dumb reason I thought there was an adapter or modification that had to be done.

For my 1994 SN, I bought the aftermarket cables manufactured by Teleflex (now SeaStar). Additionally I bought the new helm upgrade. So far, so good. No problems to report. I seriously doubt that there will be any significant difference between the Teleflex/SeaStar and the OEM Correct Craft cable.

Nautiqueparts offers the OEM and aftermarket for 93-97. If I understand the pictures correctly I like aftermarket one better, I think. But instinct says go OEM. What're y'all's experience? $320 for a steering cable is steep.
