Scott,
Tim brought up your damper plate. That was one of my first thoughts but your title regarding the bearing led me to comment about disconnecting the prop shaft for a better idea of what's going on. Getting back to the damper plate and your saying it sounds like marbles in a tin can, I too feel the plate may be the problem. Is the sound just at idle? If so, what's your idle RPM? When low, harmonics from the engine have a tendency to rattle the planetary gear set. Do you know when the damper was changed last?

Are you sure the noise is from the bearing? Have you disconnected the prop shaft as a means of isolating the noise?

Just purchased...84 correctcraft...351 ford.....can i replace this bearing?
