He has the Protec system. Different than yours.

Chris,
The + source for the ignition, gauges, nav lights and most accessories is from the dash feed.

All jokes aside, I had the same issues. Inconsistent oil pressure gauge, alarms going off etc. cleaned gauge terminals, eliminated daisy chains with the use of terminal blocks, adjusted the module, and installed larger (matched) power and ground cables.

Or, you can just unplug the little black box and be on your way, without warning lights or tone. (Not advised)

I thought I recalled on my SN that the original power wire was twice the size of the ground. I rewired the entire thing with my dual battery system. The cranking battery only connected to the ignition/engine, while the isolated deep cycle battery ran all the accessories (lights, stereo, bilge pump, blower).

Pete is correct in the fact that Power and ground wires carry the same little electrons through your system. Often seen is the problem of insufficient grounding, causing all your components to fight over that ground, and nothing being happy.

Josh,
As an electronics tech, you should know that those electrons need to come from somewhere so, it's not only the ground that needs up grading.

Ryan,
There are a couple great threads on power to dash up grades. Links are in the FAQ thread in the maintenance forum. The typical is heavier gauge wire (+ and -) to buss bars at the dash. Then elimination of daisy chains.

Also, clean every connection behind the dash.

Above link takes you to info on the module. Older nautique are notorious for having insufficient ground to the instrument panel. Had a '90, with some of the same issues.
