If it did have one they seem to have put them on the port side behind the rear seat between the tank and side of the boat.
It's also nice that over the years everyone reisted the urge to replace that vintage steering wheel

I love this forum. Thanks very much for the info. I was wandering what the relay was for. I am starting from scratch with the wiring and I had no idea there was a relay on the horn. I should have taken a picture of the wiring behind the dash. It looked like a Tasmanian devil got stuck behind the dash and ripped everything up. The boat is pretty original and I see no evidence of a bilge blower. I was told it is a 1968 Barracuda. Would a 1968 Barracuda not have a blower?

Chris,
I can take an educated guess on the push-pulls. You should have a 3 position for the nav lights. The other 2 should be 2 position and be for the bilge pump and blower. If the boat didn't have a blower, then that switch would turn the gauge lights on and off. Did you look into the problem with the horn? Typically due to the high amp load that the switch in the wheel can't handle, there would be a relay. Is there one in the circuit? |

I think this post has been solved, but here is a picture of my 1968 Barracuda dash. I am in the process of rewiring everything behind the dash. There are three push-pull switches. What do they control and what order? I am trying to get her back to original. Also, do you like the horn button? That was the fix when the horn switch broke in the steering wheel.

Yeah, strangely enough, my P.O. didn't replace one of the switches, so I have one of the push/pull switches. Before all these posts I just figured it was a different kind of switch for a different purpose. Not so!
So now I'm on the lookout for the push/pull switches, which Midwest CC tells me they can obtain. I need four to get all of them back to original. And thanks Brad. I have some work to do to get my boat looking as good as yours! |

Hi- I don't have the Barracuda anymore, but I remember it did have pull out/ push in style of switches. The were for the lights and blower. I'll see if I can dig up some photos which show close ups of the dash and switches.

Mystery solved!
Discovered today right there on the shelf of my local Advance Auto: the exact same chrome rectangular-handled switch that I have on my dashboard. Looks like my previous owner cleaned out his Advance Auto to re-do the dash. And when I looked more closely at the back of my switches, I discovered a spliced-in section he added to connect the new switch. So I bet Brad is right. Now I'm really wondering what kind of switch CCxHYPERLITEx has. Thomas |

77stang: good observation. Doesn't look factory to me, either. Radio Shack has "automotive" plastic paddle toggle switches for about $3 apiece. Wonder how much trouble I would get into using them. Are they "weatherproof"?
Unless I can get two to match, I think I'm going to have to replace all 4. Don't like the mongrel look. Still looking for someone to tell me what their boat (hopefully another Barracuda) has on it's dash for the lights, bilge, blower. Thomas |

No lucking finding that swith on-line. You might consider just replacing all the switches with a marine plastic paddle toggle switch. The switches are failing inexpensive...under $3.00 each, I think. You even get name plates that fit under the bezel of the switch.

the fact that the toggles on/off plate extends into the dash's "Starting Engine" letters makes me wonder if the toggles are orginal to begin with.

Brad at Mid-west Correct Craft tells me the switch above isn't factory. He said it's been changed, and that it should have a push-pull on-off switch.
Is that why nobody's telling me they have another switch like this one? Anybody have pics of their original switches to post? Thomas |

My 1969 Barracuda has various electrical issues, one of which is a couple of broken dashboard switches. Anybody know where to get these?
They're chrome rectangular flip on-off switches with a delicate little round rod that goes into the switch. I guess if the switch hangs, it's easy to bend the bar and snap it right off. At any rate, my light switch and one other switch are both broken off. Seems to me this was a fairly common '60's electrical switch. But where to look? Or anybody have 2-3 to spare? Thomas |
