Hi cbrad435...

We're sorting a similar issue in our 80SN. Sometimes we'll turn on to accessories and all gauges will turn out...but nothing will happen with the engine. Or, this past weekend we had the pump on, and when turning the ignition we got nothing and killed the pump. At one point we even tried to hot-wire the ignition (which we've done before) and got nothing...In the end we've always gotten it to start, and we just don't shut it off while we ride.

I think we have two problems...bad ignition and loose ground. We'll fix it next time we're home...It's been an annoyance, but hasn't stopped us from the water...it always starts eventually.

Like an automobile, all accessories & ignition voltages go thru the ignition switch. Don't rule it out. A loose ground can cause loss of electrical power but if the alternator is working correctly, the engine shouldn't die if the ground is loose. On the other hand, if the ignition switch has s#*t the bit or is on its way out, you'll lose power to the coil & you'll die. Do you know how to hot wire it? That'll bypass the the iginition switch for troubleshooting purposes.

I hope so I am nervous to take it out again. Almost had a serious date with some rocks in Tahoe and a long tow ride.....

1985 Ski Nautique just dies or wont start back up after turn off. No power to anything and sometimes power and Ignition seems dead. Checked all wiring and once I got to battery Ground was loose. Could this alone caused a faulty power connection, causing it to start and stop whenever it felt like it. Sometimes all power and sometimes none at all??? Sometimes clock, but not stereo? Sometimes blower but no ignition???
