69 barracuda throttle cable replacement

In case anyone was wondering, I did cut a small portion of the floor- I actually used a drill bit right above where I thought the screw for the clamp was then cut from the center of that to the hull making a V or triangle notch. There WAS Another damn clamp right in the middle of course- why wouldn't there be. I used a long screwdriver and a hammer to pry it up and ultimately eliminated it. I was able to slide the new cable freely over to the hull and gently pulled it up against the hull and back to the controls. Hopefully this helps the next poor guy that finds themselves replacing a cable on their barracuda. Thanks for the help everyone.

The ends are staked onto the inner cable, so no.

The cable is indeed broken up by the carburetor. Thank you though.

Bad part is it’s on the hull side not 4 inches in. I might sacrifice a long screwdriver and bend it to make a prey bar to fit under the floor. Hopefully the screw holding the bracket down will break.

Since you can feel the bracket with your fingers, it can't be too far in. See if you can get an old chisel in there, and ether pry it off to the side or pound it off to the side.

That shouldn't be too hard to run an electrical fish tape through there and pull a new cable through.

Your link to the picture doesn't work for me but, leave the old cable in place and see if you can fish the new through under the floor. Don't forget to replace the brass coupling end of the cable. What's under the carpet? Your Cuda would have had vinyl on the floor and it could be peeled back.

Hey everyone, I’m new here. Been lingering for a long time and finally made an account. The throttle cable on my barracuda broke last weekend. I’ve got the replacement and started the job. Both ends are disconnected and I began to look st how to pull the new cable through. Come to find out it runs right under the floor and also has a bracket holding the cable down underneath the floor which I can feel with my fingers. Can anyone tell me how in the hell youre supposed to replace this cable without pulling the floor up. Is this the original routing?? I’m a little flabbergasted by this design. Any help is greatly appreciated. I’ll try to upload some pictures.
