If you go to the link below and look at page 1-6 it shows the cam for a RR 302 and RR 351 being the same part number in later years, then look at the specs in the 2 quotes from old threads here on CCF and then look at the specs at the bottom for the Melling 24209

Don't forget that lobe lift needs to be multiplied by the rocker arm ratio of 1.6 so .278 X 1.6 equals .445 and .283 X 1.6 equals .453 when looking at the Ford Manual in the link.

Ive always heard and read that stock 351w marine cams (both standard and HO were in the .450 lift range. This was posted not too long ago and is consistent with that:

HO 351w
Duration 210 int./221 exh. @ .050
Valve Lift 0.453 int./0.453 exh

Not super detailed info with all the valve event timing, but a start.

CS1057M  351W Marine Reverse Rotation Cam  18456273 fire order
Valve Lift Intake:  .444  Exhaust:  .452
Duration at .050   206/221    @ .006  284/304
Lobe center   115*
That is what the book quotes for this 351W Marine Cam
Hope it helps.

So.....in the end it's a copy of the original Ford supplied cam based on the available specs/info  for each.

And it works good in a 302 or 351 RR engine

Thanks!   A couple of the companies we work with were looking for blanks to grind, and could not find them.  I just assumed they wouldn't be available from stock!

Since you say it is "Basically a stock replacement cam"...  Do you know what's different?  Do you know where we can get the OEM specs?

Thanks again, It's killing me that my 79 Tique hasn't been in the water yet!

I'll guess you have a reverse rotation engine if it's in a 79 Correct Craft

Melling 24209 available at a variety of places. Fits 302 and 351 engines.

Click on the link below for some choices. First one on the list is Summit Racing, they have a good description of the cam's characteristics and direction of rotation. It's basically a stock replacement cam.

It has the 351/later 302 reverse rotation firing order of 1 8 4 5 6 2 7 3 which your 79 engine should have.

If you have questions.............ask away  Wink

New or good condition used.  If you have any suggestions on sources, I would be very appreciative!
