Turning through the water sideloads a prop, twists the boat and then throw in the cavitation and you get a little sound. Even if the shaft is perfectly aligned in the water, boats heave, pitch and yaw all of which create some misalignment.

I think it's normal. CC's handle it well.

It is typical for inboards if you push the envelope in cluding my antiques. It is cavitation, where the pressure of the water is decresed and air comes out. Air will destroy your prop with explosions on the blades. The prop design (RH or LH) makes a difference in the turn.

is this normal for inboards? Are others of you hearing the same in your Nautiques?

Cavtation and also vibration caused by the force of the turn trying to push the prop shaft and strut to one side out of alignment.

Alright, I've been in several nautiques throughout the years and more often than not, there is a mysterious howl or groan that occurs when turning the boat. Has anyone else heard this and does anyone know what this sound is? Cavitation maybe?
