Tach Problem

i'm pretty sure your teleflex gauges are from the teleflex "vector" line. still manufactured - check about any teleflex dealer -very standard i know overtons, boaters world both carry that series

Hi Everyone,

I had an electrical problem yesterday in my '85 SN2001. Whenever I turned any of the dash switches on(bilge pump, lights, radio, etc.), all the gauges would peg. I found that I had a bad ground to the dash. I ran a new ground from the battery to the dash which fixed the problem, along with the low voltage that my voltmeter always registered. My warning systems hardly makes a sound now.

The problem I have now is that the tach reads about 600 rpms lower than actual. I think it may be fried from the original problem. I hooked my digital multi-meter up to the terminals on the back of the tach and it registered the correct rpms, so I assume the wiring is alright. The jumper wire on the back of the tach is set for 8 cylinders. Am I missing anything? If its fried, any suggestions on a replacement? I'd like to keep it as original as possible. It has Teleflex black with white and blue markings.
