ok, this question may seem trivial to must but here goes,


i want to replace a few hoses that are looking somewhat brittle. my question is how tight to i tighten the hose clamps on the hoses? should the rubber be poking through the holes in the clamp?


just snug em up and run it. then check for water leaking and tighten more if needed? that's kind of my thought right now.

The torque specs are in the manual.

well I love the guys that quote torque specs, unless it's the bearings, heads, or fly wheel you really don't need no stinking torque specs.

But basically tighten them down as tight as you can get them within reason, usually using a screw driver isn't quite good enough, depends on your strength, But I like to use a short handled 1/4" drive ratchet on them. Seeing the rubber spread out some is good, just be carfull what your tightening against. Steel, plastic, tin can oil cooler as it will collapse if you over torque.

so what was your problem last year being down on power or rpm or what ever it was you where complaining about?

Distributator, will be looking at the springs and weights tomorrow morning actually. I don't have any way to remeasure the air gap for the EI though, so I'll be rigging something up hope I can get it back in.

Don't know, will find out tomorrow. Need to patch a section of fiberglass so won't be getting it wet if it is open. Will be out next Saturday for sure.

it should go back pretty close to where it was you shouldn't have to unmount it from the plate just leave it attached when you pull the cover plate to the advance, push the wires through the grommet some to clear the tip of the distr shaft.
