Hi,
I just got offered a solid but cosmetically rough dual axle trailer for $50 at a metal shop. It needs bunks added so was wondering what timber is noramlly used? |

I've used treated wood in the past. I know some swear by cypress as the best wood to use for bunks. Around me, it goes for around $3/foot for 2x4, so it may cost more than the trailer itself if you use it.

I thought treated timber would be suitable, as it turns out I'll need to do some welding and replace a bunch of stuff. If it's within my capabilities it will be okay and I'll get a trailer for a decent price. Otherwise I'll take the axles, hubs and hitch and move them onto my existing CC trailer and ditch the frame. |
