I have a 1993 Open Bow Ski and it's currently moored b/c of low water (can't use the lift) and it keeps sinking. Literally, I'll leave it for a week and it's sitting on the prop shaft on the dirt!! Terrible. The automatic bilge pump doesn't work in auto mode (it stays on).

Where can leaks be coming from? I'm going to tighten the stuffing box shaft nuts tomorrow.

Any other ideas?

I'm seriously worried about losing my beloved Nautique which I've owned since new. I hate leaving it in the water but it's either this or no skiing.

Thanks,

Mike

you need to adjust the packing gland at the shaft and rudder, if not replace the packings.

You could also have another place leaking like an exhaust or raw water pump hose.

My bet would be the exhaust and/or the mufflers.
Mine would take on water over night, it ended up being pin holes in the fiberglass mufflers.

Don't want to sound like a wiseguy but might be a good time to fix that bilge pump.

Rudder packing, shaft packing, exhaust or speedo line/equalizer
You can’t change the wind but you can adjust your sails

I agree.

My auto was staying on the other day and I figured out that the float switch was hung in the on position on the oil drain hose. It could be something as simple as that but if not those float switches are cheap. If the bilge pump is still working the float switch should be all you need.

You sure that bilge pump isnt working correctly? Every auto bilge pump Ive seen runs for a short time when you turn it on, whether it needs to or not.

I agree!!!

look at the nuts and bolts that adjust the strut and also the rudder assy. Mine once leaked through those loose bolts. I adjustem them and added lots of sealant....

We had a problem with a leak through the screw holes which attach the 3 fins to the bottom of the hull. After tightening everything suggested above without solving the problem, we let the boat fill up with a little water and then raised it in the lift. We could see the water running out all around the fins.
