Not to throw you a curveball but what date is the Ohio CC re-union put on by Midwest CC? Last year was June 25th. Is there a possible conflict, I'd rather go where I can get the boat wet anyway.
Otherwise my vote goes to Greenlake. thanks |

Greenlake works well for me...4 1/2 hours or so depending on traffic through Chicago. Coming from Northern Indiana, 100 miles from "the loop". Not real thrilled about towing through Chicago, but I know it will be worth it.

Keep it comming...we should have this decided very soon!So far Green lake is getting (and has been)strongest interest. I plan to go early make a few extra days of it!For those who have a longer drive...maybe plan a few extra days ! The ball is starting to roll...have some guys willing to help....looking into some of the details involving, lodging, activities, facilities...etc! more to come soon! |

Stang,
CC website shows the Cedar Point reunion on June 24. I would still go to Green Lake instead but something to consider. |

Alan...thanks for that info. I guess the question would be...are there folks that would go the both...? We want to be mid to late June...could move date a week up or back if we know someone is for sure going to both! Now is the time to speak up!
Wanted to mention...we have members that don't own correct craft boats(yet)...sure the theme is about CC's, however, we don't want to exclude anyone...if it floats bring it! Sure we all will make fun of you , but come anyway! Meeting members on this site is also a big part of the picture...H-ll... I have a Mastercraft sittin in the garage....ooops! Also...once things are firm...if you know of any members who might not have seen this topic, shoot them an email so everyone knows whats goin on! 81...thanks for the email...like your idea! More on that later...right? |

I would recommend Lake Cumberland KY.
This lake is central to the midwest and is the largest man made lake in the area.....at 100 miles long and over 1000 miles of shoreline. We keep our houseboat on this lake and the water is clear and the lake is large enough that you can always find a quiet cove to ski / swim in even on the busiest of weekends. I would also recommend that the organizer of this event contact the State Dock on lake cumberland and discuss the possibility of the marina hosting such an event. This marina is always doing something fun including large concerts every weekend on a barge in the middle of Pumpkin creek, big deck parties at the marina resturant...etc. This dock is adjacent to the state park lodge which has a large buffet that overlooks the lake and lots of nice rooms to rent....it is also across the cove from another nice marina: Jamestown. There is a simiar event that goes on every year called the antique boat show, and they also host the regal boat club and other such gatherings....with the right arrangments State Dock might give space at the dock for an on the water CC show if the event were coordinated and planned there might even be some perks for the participants and maybe it could become an annual evnet....there are already a large number of CC on the lake that might come if the event were made public. If there is interest I would recommend the organizer to contact Portia Flowers Gosser (Marketing and event director for State Dock) at: Portia@statedock.com or call 1-888-782-8336. For those interested you can view the State Dock Website at: www.statedock.com. Note: I am in no way connected with State Dock or any other...I would just love to see this event come to "my" lake and have the opportunity to participate.....we currently keep our boats at Alligator II marina on this lake. Hope this all comes together somewhere. Scott |

Just a quick update on Green Lake Wisconsin..
I sure dont want to step on anyones toes, but Ive talked with a couple of hotels in the area and both had already booked the weekend of June 17th. (I think thats father day weekend) As for June 23-25 ,they were still ok , but anticipate filling up rapidly after the 1st of the year.. After July rates could be higher. FYI there are only a couple of hotels on the water...one I talked with doesnt have any slips , the other is closed til next week, but that one offers boat rentals and might have docks? Room prices are going to be higher also at those places....( like $110.&up group rate) I also called the chamber of commerce and she was very helpful with info on campgrounds, boat launches, etc. She even offered to help "promote" the reunion if we wanted. (sounds like public boat launches are no more than 10-15 mins away from downtown and may even have parks) Soooo.. I think we should probably try and get something going soon? Whats everyone thinkin'? |

OK Lets give this another try! I think we have narrowed this thing down to either Green lake or Beaver Lake So the next Question might be to ask ??
1)Does Green Lake have any other place right off of the lake to lodge on the 17th? 2)How many Would still be interested in having this thing as originally planned on 24th even though the cedar point is on the same weekend? 3)Move it to Mid. to late july at Green Lake. 4)Do it at Beaver lake on the 17th or 24th? 5)Do it at Beaver lake later july? Let me know what you think and hopefully we can put this thing to bed.... We are real close now! Hang in there guys.. soon we all will be cruising together at the first annual CC reunion |

Please allow me to help with the Green Lake side of things..
1. There are three main hotels/bed and breakfast homes on the lake, and two or three off lake. Not all have slips. There are dozens of homes for rent on and off water. Depending on your party size, this is a great way to take in Green. 2. The public ramp in "IN" downtown Green. It offers a fantasic restaurant, park facilities, slips, docks, and an outdoor music bandshell. 3. I have contacted the local on water Bar/Supper club to host a in water boat show. They will get back to me.. 4. June, although gorgeous, could be dicey weather wise. Being the deepest lake in Wisconsin, it is also cold. My suggestion is to look at Green in the heart of the summer to late summer. I have mentioned to Gary that certain weekends you do not want to be there. I will post them and then everyone can decide. 5. There is a public beach with additional launch sites, a camp ground attached to downtown, antiques, taverns, pond fishing, horseback riding, bowling and plenty to do around town if anything happens and the weather goes to &^%$... Just an FYI. I have a house a block from downtown and the lake where a central meet and greet can take place on a Friday night, Sat morn No Problem... Anyone needs to contact me for information, please email me @ d.dorsen@worlnet.att.net and I'd be happy to help.. Let's Get Wet !!! Mojo |

My vote goes for GL on the 17th or 24th depending on lodging. I was going to go to Cedar Point for something to do but this event sounds much better.
If the date and place changes we would still do our best to make it but after the fourth of July our summer gets pretty busy. Mojo, Are there any campgrounds right on the lake and if so can you get the names. Campgrounds fill up real fast also and fathers day might be a problem their as well. |

We think Green Lake is going to be a little too far for us. Maybe we will see some of you guys at Cedar Point for th CC reunion. If anyone gets a group together at Lake Cumberland, we could sure make that! Its only about 4 hours from us.

Hello everyone, first post for me here.
I own a '79 nauti that I have shed some blood sweat and tears on.(Thanks to David F whose posts offered me tremendous help in my restoration.) I'd love to show my 'new' nauti to everyone and see other restored CC's. Just wondering the logic for placing a national reunion in the northern most state in the lower 48.This seems to be a near impossible journey for anyone who is not from a neighboring state (I am from North Carolina) Also, what is the age demographic for this reunion. I'm 28yrs old, will their be anyone near my age in attendance? PS- BKH you are truly 'Cliff Clavin'of nautiques (Cliff was the post man from the sitcom Cheers) |

Welcome slalomguy!
As for the reunoin being held in Wi, this is not meant to be a national event, i think theres one of those in Florida. I live in IL and Fl is too far for us.(BTW we have about a foot of snow on the ground and predicted 15 below temps tonight ) In fact theres even been interest in having a northern and southern midwest reunion. As for ages , I dont think anyone really cares as long as you have an interest in Correct Crafts... Im 51 and own a 1964 American Skier, but would sure hope to see some "younger" guys with any year ride. If these events are too far, mabe look into doing something in your region? Again, welcome! |

Slalomguy...welcome to the site!
To answer your question...here's how this was born! Two guy's (myself from IL and one from Kanas city Mo.)Wanted to get together sometime over the summer...we thought it would be fun to see if others would join in! There was instant interest and the majority of those that replied were from the N.midwest(Wi,Mi,In,Oh,IL,Ia etc)There are a large number of members in those states...this was always to take place in the Midwest. If turn out is good ...we hope to see it happen every year at a new midwest location...perhaps Cumberland lake KY next year! We expect most of the turn out to come from this region, however...we welcome anyone...any age!!! I would assume if someone posted a date and location near you , people in the south East would attend! Lots of members in NC,GA,FLA ,AL etc. Keith has suggested that regional reunions be encouraged! See how much interest there would be! Anyway...all are welcome! |

slalomguy; Florida reunion held this year in Orlando in April. Awesome. Over 100 C/C's of all ages. Just a short drive south from NC. Meet the famous reidP, owner of numerous C/C's and we are hoping for an apperance by BKH. At least I've invited to stay at our place. As for age, I'm 55 and have owned C/C since the early '80's. You'll find guys like me, with classics, all the way to young guys with wakeboard set-ups with sacks, towers and boomboxes. There's room here for everyone...john

(81'), The campground that is within walking distance to downtown is directly across from the street from the main lake, swimming beach and fishing piers. It has unabstructed view of the lake but actually sits on a small inlet pond that feeds the lake. It is boatable under a short bridge. The campground also has a small general store I will get you the name and number. Or for more information than just the CC, you can visit. www.greenlakecc.com Moj' |

Slalomguy,
Not sure how to take the Cliff Clavin thing. Wasn't he the guy who annoyed everyone on cheers. Certainly hope I'm not annoying anyone here. I'll admit, I do have a mind for useless trivia. Probably the result of too many years of of college, too many career changes, and a 1.5 year sabbatical from the working world. Anyway, why didn't you jump in and post pictures during your restore. Folks on this site love to see good work and progress. As for ages, I'm 42. Love the old boats, but currently own a 2001 Super Air, with speakers and all that crap. Something about divorce a few years back, young hot babes . . . whatever. That's for another time. BKH |

BHP,
I think he called you old.... Doh' Me, I'm 43'ride a HD Road Glide, had cars and now a 26 foot Cobalt in Green Lake.. Still waiting to close a deal on a CC. Should be anytime now and I'll join you fine folks as part of the family. OH, here are some dates to avoid going to Green Lake for the reunion. June 24 weekend : Scow Regatta. Sailors take over everything, as this is a national compet*tion event held every year... Stay away. July 29 weekend: Oshkosh air show. However cool to see sail planes land on the lake, the overflow of people attending this annual event flood into Green Lake.. Motel hell... August 5th weekend: Green Lake County Fair. However a blast for the kids, a nightmare on and around the water. Big event in the summer for Green Lakians. Any other weekend is usually safe. Again, as I mentioned earlier, mid to late summer is the time to go to Green Lake. Water's warmer, air is hot (so are the Brats) and the beer is cold... Any questions??? Mojo.. |

Mojo,
Thanks for the additional info on GL. As for Beaver lake, that's 650 miles for us so we would have to put a weeks vaca together to do it and enjoy it. If we can, we'll be there. You guys just set a new date and again those that can will and the others, us included may have to wait til next year. Not the end of the world. Stang, even if we can't make it I'm still working on the other thing. Slalom Guy, Welcome, I'm a relative newbie myself and this is a great site. Great people. I think that's why the guys are working so hard to make the reunion work for everyone. As for age I'm 45, A great wife,2 teenagers and our Rottie. I'll know I'm old when I can no longer put up with my kids music and so far we can all manage. At our halloween party this year we had 42 people over ranging from 13 to 68 and we rocked the house all night. It's good to mix it up, keeps you from missing too much. |

This event sounds awesome and Green Lake sounds nice, but definitely promotes the "regional", in a regional reunion.
My point is this, I think that this location will keep some people from coming that otherwise would. It would be just under a 500 mile drive for us to come, but that is really not the point, I may be willing to do the 500 miles for a long weekend, but if I do I would much rather meet 30 to 40 owners than 13 or 14. Draw a 400/ 500 mile circle around Green Lake, how many potential attendees are in that circle? Then draw a 400 /500 mile circle around kentucky lake, or cumberland, or another more centrally located lake of your choice. Yea, I know, I can choose to host another event that is more central, but I don't think that is the idea here. I would like to help out in any way that I can, Green Lake is not out of the question for me, but I'm sure it is for others. Email me for contact information, emmcol "at" cinci "dot" rr "dot" com Gary |

Yes, I have been visiting Green Lake for the last several years. Long enough to want to buy a second home there.
Yes, the second weekend in July sounds like a perfect time for Green, Stang.. Like I have offered ( and with the help of 62 Wood) we can plan the event if this is where everyone decideds to go.. Again, my email is d.dorsen@worlnet.att.net. Once this is agreed upon by those "senior", no pun intended, members, you can email away. In the meantime, I would encourage everyone to visit the towns web site @ .www.greenlakecc.com for complete details of the town, lake and surounding area. Key's to Green Lake: 1. Abundance of hotels, camping and things to do 2. Town is right on the lake (walking distance to main pier. 3. No sand bars to navigate. Perfect for inboards. 4. Never crowded 7miles X 3 miles It certainly sounds like many of you are sold on going to Green Lake. Certainly this Northerly location is not condusive for everyone. (This was the reason Keith had recommended regional reunions). I'm sure you will all agree that a decision just has to be put to a democratic vote. Listed below I have started a list. Each person that would like to take in Green Lake during the second weekend in July, just reply to the quote from this message and add your name to the list under my own. The sooner you can organize what seems to be 10-20 boats and families the better. Green Lake Reunion 1. Mojoman + Family |

65'cuda...the number of members in a certain location is a good point.I have done a bit of research though the diary sect. in all regions!
The diary sect. represents only those who have thier boats posted...not all members do...but it does give some data that is worth considering. There are approx. 100 boats posted from these states...IL , Mi , Wi ,In , and ohio(each about 20).If you include Ia,Mn ,Mo,numbers grow to about 140.Those are states close enough to make the trip!I would think turn out could be 20-30 boats. I agree that cumberland and Kentucky lake sit in an area where surrounding states have a lot of members too...I would think turn out there would be good also. I think what has made Green lake a front runner is...from the beginning of the post...the majority of responses have been from the N Midwest states. If we were to see a sudden flood of interest in Cumberland or KL ..maybe!So far not enough folks are saying thats the place! We can't wait too long...we want to make sure we have a place to sleep!!! |
