Either way, they both contribute to health care cost going through the roof.

Its interesting reading all of the comments about health care. Couple points I would like to see some comments on:

read this:

http://online.wsj.com/article/SB10001424052748704471504574443472658898710.html

We build cardiac cameras that take 3D pictures of your heart.

Before this was past a specialist made $700 on a scan, same as a hospital. Since this bill was passed a specialist (the people with more experience in their field) makes $350 per scan. The hospital now makes $800 per scan. Specialists are starting to go out of business. Once they all go out of business we end up paying more per scan in the long run with no specialized doctors. (the numbers used in this are examples)

This is a real situation...no fox people reporting on it. Our business is down 70% because the specialists will not buy any new equipment. Thanks Obama.

Now.....Think about this:

Most every tangible good that we buy now has some chinese stuff in it (low cost components).

Now take a look at everything we cannot buy from China. Is it inexpensive?

Its time to get our head out of the hole and understand that health care and research is expensive. Now it looks even more expensive because we have been getting tangible goods for almost nothing. We cannot import good health care.

I know we should look at insurance companies and tort reform, but we still need to understand that health care is still expensive.

Now we are giving it to everybody. The drug addicts and the bums who will not work.

If you think health care is going to be a problem.... you might consider thinking about this also:

We already are giving it to everybody. If someone goes to the hospital with any type of life threatening illness/injury they have to be treated. It's nothing new. Most say it will be cheaper in the long run because a lot of these people could have prevented their serious illness with a normal doctor visit.

I've been kind of busy...this thread has been active. I've kind of fallen away from it.

I'm interested to see how this all plays out. We're going to get to see a little lesson about Constitutional law and see if the leaders of this country's judicial system still rule based upon it. Forcing people to get the insurance or pay a fine does not seem to align itself with the Constitution, IMO.

By the way, Oklahoma is already talking about a state bill that may end up on our Novemeber ballot allowing us to opt-out. I'm watching that closely, as well.

Edit: Phil, I would have never pegged you as an independent from our other discussion. I align with you a lot more than I thought. It looks like our only key difference would be with social programs.

I guess Phil got us all riled up on this. He asked for it, and got it though.

It just fuels me that someone can not see the real picture. You explain vital and very descriptive detail about the matter, and still do not see the mirror. They always looking for another excuse. Makes me wonder..

I would honestly like to see ol Rick Perry, our Texas Governor run for President. He a great canidate for President.

Obama told him he and the state of texas need to re-vampen your rules and take the stimulus money with serious ties to it.

Perry told Obama,"Go Get Lost"!! We do not need your strings or your goverment rules. We the only goverment in the US not hurting for funds or jobs. He tough on illegal immagrants and people who "Dont" want to work..

All i know is only in America can you work 10 years of your life if that, go 3 times to a lawyer, get on SSI for a disability collect 1k a month there , Doctor shop because the lack of the record keeping, get 3 different prescriptions on medicare, sell them clearing another 4k a month, go for finacial aid because you cant afford your insulin, get a food card for roughly 300 a month, and the trickle down continues.
thats what regulating not controlling is about, get everyones medical history on file, this TRUE example is whats happening right now, not to one or two people, but thousands do this. there are Pharmacies on every corner selling and selling with no qualms and the only concern is the bottem line. this country is filled with addicts fueled by the current system, 12 minute doctor visits, referels to other doctors because of fears, doctors afraid to mis-diagnose in fears of a lawsuit.... a little regualating is needed so these practices stop. it really is an epidemic, and thats only touching the razors edge
did anyone really look at the charts i posted? dont you see something wrong there?, the pubs were dead against letting this bill pass under a Democratic president thats all with no concern for the common man, those guys dont give 2 shts about you and me, they'll slap a gun in your hand, boots on your feet, and make you do things that are morally wrong. its not wheteher your from the right or the left its whats right and whats wrong, whether the bill satisfies your needs or doesnt something had to be done. I see the biggest worries here our our premiums will go up, what the fck do you think has been happening the last 10 years? or maybe you really didnt notice until its up on the card table. read the GD charts, there is a fckin problem. the bottem line as always is about money, power...should the wealthy pay more taxes imo, yes, because they are the root of the evil.   good night

Good morning, a little hungover, but a good way to understand regulation is the housing crises, it was regulated not controlled by the government, laws were in place to prevent predatory lending and then it was de-regulated allowing a frenzy of bad loans, 10.00 an hour in a 300k house.
comparing apples to apples, this is whats happining in the healthcare system, no regulation, mass confusion, putting cap laws in place, better records, and so on will bring the costs down.
Just by setting up a database with everyones medical history will save BILLIONS and put an end to situations like above.
just like Carfax, punch in the VIN and you know the history, the information is at your finger tips, wiping out one guy like above would save 40k a year, (thats an estimate)
everybody knows a guy like this or 2, they will work the system and it inflates the costs for everyone and that price tag goes on everyday items, its very simple to understand, Doctors cant look the other way on record, if you understand how the current system works (or doesnt) that is the tip of the iceburg simply by good record keeping. it would curtail lawsuits and the possibilities are endless merely by keeping track.

Eric,
Car Fax is easy to beat (if your from Detriot!)

The dieing Preist

In Washington an old priest lay dying in the hospital. For years he had faithfully served the people of the nation's capital. He motioned for his nurse to come near.

"Yes, Father?" said the nurse.

"I would really like to see Harry Reid and Nancy Pelosi before I die", whispered the priest.

"I'll see what I can do, Father", replied the nurse.

The nurse sent the request to The House and Senate waited for a response.

Soon the word arrived; Harry Reid and Nancy Pelosi would be delighted to visit the priest.

As they went to the hospital, Reid commented to Pelosi,

"I don't know why the old priest wants to see us, but it will certainly help our images and might even get me re-elected."

Pelosi agreed that it was a good thing.

When they arrived at the priest's room, the priest took Reid's hand in his right hand and Pelosi's hand in his left.

There was silence and a look of serenity on the old priest's face.

Finally Nancy Pelosi spoke.

"Father, of all the people you could have chosen, why did you choose us to be with you as you near the end?"

The old priest slowly replied, ! "I have always tried to pattern my life after Our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ."

"Amen", said Reid. "Amen", said Pelosi.

The old priest continued, "Jesus died between two lying thieves; I would like to do the same.".

Eric
So let me get this strait;
If you made $250,001.00 (adjusted) last year, living in Ohio, you would pay $97,312.56 in taxes next month, and that is not enough?
My bad!

I have to disagree with you here.
I have paid cash or paid off charges each month since my divorce 20 years ago. I was drowning in debt and learned my lesson.
I live in a smaller house than my work peers and do not purchase new cars every couple of years. I do not own a newer CC.
I saved for years to pay down as much as I could for my house. Paid it
off in 5 years of doing without.

No debt and a 6 figure income does not make you rich. It makes you smart
if it works for you and you can work with it.

come on Tull, your not feeling sorry for the rich folk are you? tax shelters, deductions, 2nd house, contributions to the republican party, yacht with kitchen, all right offs.
every spring and every fall, my father in law works for a wealthy widow, went from a 1.6 million town house to a 1.8 million dollar house. he brings garbage bags full of clothes home from this woman because she shops till she drops, shoes sweaters, all from high end stores. she does fall and spring cleaning and this stuff is set aside for the trash, im not a charity case and my wife is the same size as this woman. now the thing about it is, 95% of it still has the tags on it and I look at these tags and there will be 180.00 220.00 all expensive clothes and shoes never worn, alway a couple grand in clothes and this has been going on for years
I wont even go there with the food this woman throws out, he cant get himself to throw out fresh food, if it has a sell by date on a steak, and its past, it goes in the garbage....bags full every week,
I alway, always treat people as equals, But, over the years i have been exposed to the wealthy, not the 250k a year wealthy, the 7 figure wealthy and luckily I know how to handle them, I have looked a wealthy woman dead in the face because all she was doing was bitching about getting a hand print on the boat or to the likes sort of looking down on me like i was her servant, and I quote, i dont need to work on your fckin boat and i started packing up my tools, and her husband intervened and talked me into staying. from that point she was butter....I eneded up nailing her when the husband was away lol. jk..I couldve though, probably lol

dont get me wrong Tull, on the other hand i was on a very wealthy guys boat on Staten Island, he started out in a van doing electrical work, and as time progressed he ended up with 700 employees, probably connected in some form, but he brought me lunch everyday, put me in a nice hotel...one that you pay by the hour lol, a grassroots guy who earned every nickle he had...couldnt thank me enough because he made the tuna fishing tournament....btw, the company (not mine) got a check for 40k,
all done and said, he sent me a 500.00 tip.
I guess the point being, there's old money and earned money...2 different horses
