Has anyone replaced there fuel tank and if so where did you get it? I have an 87 2001 Ski Nautique and someone had "JB Welded" the pickup in it so need less to say when I went to pull it out to clean it ripped out of the tank. Should I stay with an alluminum tank or would a plastic tank work just as well?? Open for suggestions.

Not totally sure, but I'd have to say they've been replaced before. There's a thread called Separateror Rebuild and I know he had a tank made totally custom. I think that was more of a one off situation though, since it was in infloor tank.
I'm sure if you find a thread where someone has done a full resto on a "2001" hull, and there are a few, you may see what they've done with their tanks. I think a lot of them came with plastic tanks anyway, but not sure of the drawbacks. |

Absolutely a great idea! better than the "JB"weld !!!! Any one with a TIG AC welder can help out. I'm confused about what broke off? The threaded flange on the tank? WOW, they are normally welded on there pretty good! How about a picture? |

I will see if I can get a picture of it. Yes the weld that was on there to hold the threads for the pickup tube broke completely all the way around. When I pulled the pickup out it was still screwed into the weld. I guess it could be welded but it still has 1/2 tank of gas to be siphoned and dried REALLY good..

Or you could just toss a match in and take it to be welded when the fire goes out
