to keep feet from burning move around from one foot to the other and tumble turns and toeholds. and really you just have to ski alot and get them broke in. I had been off my feet for a few months and when I skied it was in chop and we went about 44 or 45 and my feet were wrecked for the next three go outs super tender and hurt like heck but now after a dozen sets they do not hurt or burn amymore. (if they are too sore to ski on use shoe skis)

I concur with Andy. The water does what it wants to, just gotta toughen your feet by skiing a lot. I get the foot burn in the backwards position at times. Try adjusting your position or ride the one foot!
Steve: I liked your blow by blow description of the runs, that was cool. Ditch the socks. I have never heard of that. David Small and Keith St. Onge do not use them, so neither do I. Andy did wreck his feet, I was there! Willie put him at 46 MPH through some rough water ON THE BOOM with no curl or wake to retreat in to! Andy: Nice set today! Sick conditions; today was made to barefoot! More turns, more wakes, more reasons to get out on the water again. |

tried the extreme footers yesterday on the long line..wow those things make it much easier. Also allows you to ski 8 miles or so slower....
so I practiced wake crossing, and one foots. Then I nailed my first tumble turn on the long line. And closing the session I also was able to do a long line belly start.... On the other hand looks like I have a little leak on the drysuit, the inner rubber coating has a little nick, so the water enter there, you I use any inflatable repair kit to solve it? |

Not sure on the drysuit repair. I would call Barefoot International before you do anything.
Glad you got the shoes going Seb. They will help your barefooting a lot. Be careful doing tumbles with them or techniques where they can catch your foot and drag it under. I remember doing one foot stand ups with them, and the shoe got caught and dragged my foot/knee into a very unnatural position. Luckily I did not get hurt. BTW, I am so stoked you have taken up barefooting with such enthusiasm! Winter barefooting too... very cool! |

Seb, on the road today but will attempt explanation. If you can get some neoprene that will work as a patch. Otherwise a patch from innertube (bicycle) repair kit should work. Prep both pieces by cleaning with acetone. then apply rubber cement and let dry, repeat, then apply third coat of cement and apply patch to the outside of hole. Use something heavy to hold patch flat til dry. You can also put wax paper between weight and suit to prevent it from sticking |

Steve,
I'm going to do a slight thread "high jack" here - where were you the weekend of the reunion? We didn't even see each other and even though I see pictures of your dad, I didn't even see him!!! Were you even out at the sandbar?? |

Pete - Oh I was there who do you think posted that awesome video of the Atom - I just wish I had the focus working better... We got in later then I had anticipated on Friday and had to take off Saturday night to come home and get ready to take one of the girls to camp. Made it out Saturday AM to foot (see video above) and skied most of the morning. I think I was next to you or slightly behind for most of the parade. Then spent most of the day at the sandbar, admittedly I did take the kids skiing quite a bit in the afternoon as well as had to walk along that boardwalk to look at a car that my wife's cousin (dealer) found for us. When I was there I wasn't with the boat much, just walking around talking to folks. Not sure how I missed you. Then later that night at the tent, I was keeping pretty close to my folks to make sure they were surviving the heat ok. Time went way to fast... as it always does. |

I was a good week to foot, yes:
I am in love with the one foot wake cross. Coolest move in the book. I have more ground to gain, but every time I get on the water, I attack the wakes first! |

Andy love the superman start. Lot of other stuff going on that is so cool. Not so sure about the way you ended your last run on the video though...
Roy, those one foot wake crosses are awesome. Next time out, if I can find a driver, I am going to work on the one foots. All about goals right. Great sets, keep the videos coming! |

nice footing fellas.
Roy, your boom is now on the starboard side. Is that your boat or another boat? why the change to starboard? |

Yes, Steve, different boat. I am getting spoiled by these barefoot boats, namely a Barefoot Sanger and a Barefoot Malibu. Plus skiing on their ski club Lake, Twin Cities, where the water is like a bathtub and rarely gets blown out is a real spoiler. My ski club is good too, but you have to catch it early of late to get the good water, which I do. |

Had a legendary set on Weds. No video, but a real goodie. Lots of one foot wakes, back one-foots, and surface turns on shoe skis. Fun, fun.
I head out to my ski club for 5 days of camp/foot. Andy (GlassSeeker) is going to help me put on a barefoot show on Saturday night to a pretty big crowd. May be some flying starts off a houseboat for starters! |

what's up fellas....not nearly enough footing for me.....some 1 foot attempts....interestingingly i felt that lifting my right foot was easier than the left. felt more solid. I would think it'd be the opposite as I'm right handed.
heres a video....what do you all think? constructive criticism welcome. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ek0hRgXPspg&feature=share |

I'd raise the boom some. Have driver wait till you tumble around before WOT, and try to keep your one foot underneath you more rather than way out front.

Thanks Ryan. Couldn't catch the name over the PA, so I am not sure who is skiing, but here is the first run of the Freestyle Finals: I guess while this is cool, I think I like the long line skiing better. The view is definitely better in the boat versus from the shore. |

Steve,
We must have just missed each other, was there until about 7:30 Sat. On the earlier Barefoot set the footer did a butt glide into another boat, not sure if he was hurt or not, it did end that BF set though. |

Chris, Yep we got up there about 6PM, stayed til about 8:15 or so, that was about all the wife could tolerate. She was impressed with each new event we watched, but after two or three passes she said, "okay they are just doing the same thing over and over." HA! no eye for the fine detail that separates the good from the best in this sport... Butt glide into another boat that sounds really bad, no mention of that from the announcers. I take it the other boar was just sitting. I hope he/she was okay. |
