You miss stated very clearly Psst... The republican convention is in Martha's vineyard at the same time barack is there. Maybe that is why the Repubs. are so bent about Barack being there. Hyprocracy my friend.... A republican convention is little different than Mitt doing a fund raiser in his own state. Are you going to blame a guy for looking for funds in Marthas Vinyard... Come on. If you want to pick corn you dont go to a bean field, you go where the corn is. |

Private sector jobs and road building jobs are different in nature. The private sector job if properly managed pays for itself... and then some, becoming self sustaining. That is growth. The road requires taking money out of the private sector and creates a temporary job and little growth opportunity. I am not knocking it. We all need the roads, especially business. The problem is when government starts building roads to nowhere just to create jobs. Due to the multipliers I explained earlier the money would provide more growth left in the private sector. The bigger problem is taking money out of the private sector to pay our potential workforce to be idle long term. We have numerous dissadvantages competing globally, and this is a completely unecessary self inflicted drain, again we hired 200 additional IRS agents but no welfare fraud agents. Who are we rewarding and who are we punishing? and Phil wonders why corporations are not loyal to the US. |

The problem is the private sector isn't creating the jobs. And it isn't because of high taxes, as we have stated the efficive taxes are high, but the actual taxes are low. The road building projects puts money in the pockets of the folks who will spend it. I don't care if you say that isn't as effective as another way, as that other way isn't happening. This would also help the uncertainty too. |

Here is where you and I differ. You want the companies to "be" us. I want the Gov. to "be" us. We are the government after all, it has just been the companies have become the gov., and we have no control over the companies. That is sort of a mouthful, but think it clearly sums it up. This was something our forefathers had thought about and it is very clear what they thought of monopolies. |

I am sure a few union guys would be very happy, but its just not enough to make a difference. We had a spending binge that was supposed to insure unemployment would stay below 8% we spent and it went up to 9% someone does not understand economics. What we really need is to just let things settle down, maybe even back off some of what is in the works and let confidence build. There is a lot of money baing sat on by business right now. Far more then the government has to spend. We just need to create conditions where business is comfortable spending it. Hint.. change, increased taxes, increased regulations are not the conditions they are waiting for.

To me its all about power, power corrupts and so it needs to be minimized and spread. Our government has a monopoly on so many areas of our life. Services, education, entitlements...... When the govt grows it becomes its own entity. People can live in DC and be disconnected from the real world..or us. certainly there is some big money influencing government including buisness and labor. There is a balance in that. It would be nice to not have influence in washington but then we would not have a check on washington also. The interests of business are purer closer to mine than the interests of government (tax spend, rinse and repeat). |

they dont have a monopoly on your everyday decisions, americans sure do know how to put the slant eyes to work, sorry the asians..not very hard to understand, why do we bitch about the government? its a simple equation of no cashflow, if the cashflow was there we would all have free medical, retirement, we sold out. a long time ago. quit looking to the government to fix things. look in the mirror

There has been talk that the President not even take a vacation this year, or not at the Vineyard. Well that is no big deal, but why, when we are in this economical status can't his wife wait for him and travel together. Why does she need to fly seperately with another jet and security crew costing us $$$$$.
As for the bus. Not only did we buy one made in Canada, we bought two! Can the Pres and Vice Pres share. Shouldn't one be in Washington while ones on the road? $$$$$ once again! It is hard to accept that the President feels our pain when he goes shopping with our checkbook. |

I know two buses were purchased at the same time for better value, so they have said. One bus will be for the democrat and one for the republican nominee, during campaigning. I totally agree on we should have bought American. It's where alot of this starts, in my opinion. |

Thought you guys may enjoy this. See any parallels to our country??
The ANT AND THE GRASSHOPPER This one is a little different. Two Different Versions. Two Different Morals. OLD VERSION: The ant works hard in the withering heat all summer long, building his house, and laying up supplies for the winter. The grasshopper thinks the ant is a fool and laughs and dances and plays the summer away. Come winter, the ant is warm and well fed. The grasshopper has no food or shelter, so he dies out in the cold. MORAL OF THE OLD STORY: Be responsible for yourself! MODERN VERSION: The ant works hard in the withering heat and the rain all summer long, building his house, and laying up supplies for the winter. The grasshopper thinks the ant is a fool and laughs and dances and plays the summer away. Come winter, the shivering grasshoppercalls a press conference and demands to know why the ant should be allowed to be warm and well fed while he is cold and starving. CBS, NBC, PBS, CNN, and ABC show up to provide pictures of the shivering grasshopper next to a video of the ant in his comfortable home with a table filled with food. America is stunned by the sharp contrast. How can this be, that in a country of such wealth, this poor grasshopper is allowed to suffer so? Kermit the Frog appears on Oprah with the grasshopper and everybody cries when they sing, 'It's Not Easy BeingGreen.' ACORN stages a demonstration in front of the ant's house where the news stations film the group singing, We Shall Overcome. Then Rev. Jeremiah Wright has the group kneel down to pray for thegrasshopper's sake. President Obama condemns the ant and blames President Bush, President Reagan, Christopher Columbus, and thePope for the grasshopper's plight. Nancy Pelosi and Harry Reid exclaim in an interview with Larry King that the anthas gotten rich off the back of thegrasshopper, and both call for an immediate tax hike on the ant to make him pay his fair share. Finally, the EEOC drafts the Economic Equity and Anti-Grasshopper Act retroactive to the beginning of the summer. The ant is fined for failing to hire a proportionate number of green bugs and, having nothing left to pay his retroactive taxes, his home is confiscated by thegovernment Green Czar and given to thegrasshopper. The story ends as we see the grasshopperand his free-loading friends finishing up the last bits of the ant's food while the government house he is in, which, as you recall, just happens to be the ant's old house, crumbles around them because thegrasshopper doesn't maintain it. The ant has disappeared in the snow, never to be seen again. The grasshopper is found dead in a drug related incident, and the house, now abandoned, is taken over by a gang ofspiders who terrorize and ramshackle the once prosperous and peaceful, neighborhood. The entire Nation collapses bringing the rest of the free world with it. MORAL OF THE STORY: Be careful how you vote in 2012. |

Oh my God.... Please, please, please, tell me of ONE rich republican, this has happened to. That was awfully long winded for a story filled with, possibilities of what republicans think is happening. One just needs to look at Verizon. A company with profits in the billions, was resistant to pay the employees a living wage. I know your comment is going to be, "if the employees do not like it, they can go work elsewhere". If that is the case, I really at this point do not know what I can possibly say to you, except when does owning a company entitle you to record profits, and screw the employees and customers that brought you that wealth. oh, I know, if you do not like it, screw you I will take my company to China. You say you are against the Gov. getting the wealth through taxes, and if your comment is like I quoted above, I cannot think your only explanation to get the money out of the corporations hand is to get rid of the uncertainty. |

Come on Seth, lighten up a little. That was clever and a little funny. and has a few kernels of truth in it. but obviously exagerated for effect. We have tried regulating and stimulating the money out of businesses hands and it is not working at all. It has created a lot of uncertainty. Maybe I am on to something (not that I am the only one saying this or that it is my original idea) i have talked to many business owners who tell me this. |
