i've got a little boat shuffle going on next spring...the '88 currently at home will be heading up north to it's final resting place at my parents lake house. the '93 currently up north will be going up for sale, and hopefully i'll have a '99 super air at home.
part of dad's "requirements" for the '88 coming up north is that the rr seat must be returned to original. currently there is a "custom" rr seat, but i've had the original cushions and bases in the basement since I bought the boat 4 years ago. the skins were in rough shape but fortunately my dad's company has recently partnered with Mcleod design group...and the chief designer of the operation is Michael McLeod...who happens to be the original designer of the Delux interior from 1985!! How's that for original!! now the seats are in the hands of the master and he's taking care of them for me. The big quesion I have is this : Does anyone have (or could any one take) some good photos of exactly how the seat bases are attached to the floor and how the ctr seat back attached to the base?? here is a before shot of the seat at the master's shop.

None of mine are attached the just sit on the bases which just sit on the floor. The seat back is just wedged in there. No attaching. Is that what you are asking?

Attwood hatch hinges, but catch your toes really bad. I don't have any on my floor since they'd be a hazard w/o the seat in place anyway. It still stays in place w/o them anyway.
The corners were screwed down with #10 ss oval head screws w/ finishing washers. There should be t-nuts in the backrest, with corresponding machine screws through the 3 slots. The backrest all seem to sag into the bottom so I put extra nuts in there as spacers to keep it at the proper height since climbing in and out always pushes it down. |

Mine have nothing, they just sit there fine. Never had an issue unless you really slam on the brakes while trailering. Then you have cushions everywhere. People get yelled at if they step on my seat back climbing in and out.

Are there any holes in the base where they would have been bolted on? I've never had a cushion move while towing, there should be little blocks of wood stapled to the bottom so you have to lift and slide to move.

well you must not have had the same kind of emergency stop I have had!! Mine have the little blocks, this did not stop it. This was a one time issue. Never an issue while on the lake.

Mine has the hardware Hollywood mentions and my Dad's 86 had the same hardware as well. Agreed 100% on the floor brackets being a toe catch. I usually run with no backseat if it's just me and some friends skiing and inevitably someone snags a toe each and every outing.

i have those hinges...but, sounds like i'm not going to put them back in. after it gets up north it won't be towed more than 5 miles a year so maybe i'll just set the bases on the floor and see how that goes. anybody have a good photo of how the ctr seat back attaches to the ctr base??

Nick,
Do you still have the rotomolded plastic bases? Is that your question? Your photo doesn't show them. There'd be three pieces. One small base (shoebox size) each for the side seat cushions and then a much larger base for the center seat cushion and back cushion. If you have those plastic pieces, it should be intuitive as to how the back cushion attaches. Three screws and washers(as mentioned by Hollywood) that secure the back cushion to the rotomolded plastic base. |

Yes, swatkinz is correct, there is a plastic flange that runs up behind the back cushion from the base. However, once again the PO removed the screws. So everything in my boat is just sitting back there, unattached and I will have to say I have never had an issue and it makes it way easier to get into the rear seat storage and take the interior out. I often take the cushions out of the boat if they are all wet. Helps things dry out faster.
