4-5 years ago when gas went up to $4/gal, it was all Bush's fault. Whose fault is it now?

thats what one must not forget and blame the gas spikes on any President, it did shoot up in 08, i remember paying 4.75 at the dock...during Bush in office. i dont think i ever finger pointed. i would really think its the Presidents job to keep it from going to 10.00 a gallon...it spikes every year this time of year, buy low sell high.

until you offer other solutions, im surprised that we are not at 10.00 a gallon, i think gas is very reasonable, *************** we would be wasteful pigs if it was .59 cents a gallon, our attitudes would be fck it gas is cheap lets burn it up...

Why would it be the president's job to control gas prices? then he would be called socialist. What if it was the price of cheese. would he need to keep the farmer from making a big profit ? we are a capitalist society ....

If Mr. Obama was white he would not have won Hillery would have. The Republican party never had a chance with their chosen one. It wasn't Palin it was McCain. This is all for show.
NO body is going to beat this President. In my eyes he dose'nt get the credit for Bin Laden. What is one thing that he has done that is good for the country? just tell me ONE thing. I'm all for new energy but I just hate the way they go about it, a scare tactic. The free market will invent it with out the government. Global warming is a prime example, here in Michigan glaciers formed the great lakes where are those glaciers now? we've had Global Warming since day one. If they want the price of gas to come down they do have an influence maybe not a direct one but deals can always be made. |

bailed out the auto industry, helped the economy, made us all at least think of health care, Eliminated most of all the leaders of al qaeda. Of course he has not made all his promises come true ... But at least he is not a war monger. Those that make the weapons are/were pushing our government to engage in some sort of war costing us billions and worse many lives of Americans. Many of which myself included still can't figure out why we invaded.

how come you guys haven't stared a sculpture of Obama @ Mt Rushmore?
If things are so good and Obama so great how could anyone even think about complaining? If the democrats are so great how did they ever let Reagan Bush, and Bush Jr even get close to the presidency. If your (dem) policies and programs are so great why are they being challenged. With enough votes to pass a budget why won't Harry Reid even bring one to the floor? Why do I feel I was better off prior to 2009? I had a job, I had money, my property was worth more. Where do I sign up for the demcrast Kool Aid? it sure looks tastey |

I just think that it is odd how much made up and doctored crap the so called conservatives tolerate from thier news sources. This stuff is corrected and debunked continually but then we are supposed to take seriously the next round of garbage coming from the same places? A mainstream media figure mistakenly runs an incorrect story and we run them off the air for not vetting the material fully. A conservative/fox type spouts whatever made up nonsense that supports thier view of the world and when it is proven to be lies.. well that was just an opinion piece and an honest mistake. Too bad the 20 million who heard it never get the corrected version and go out and vote against that foreign born muslim that supports infanticide and loves socialism and hates freedom and wants 10 dollar gas prices and to make you all go to 4 years of college where they will take away your religion.
On this little boat forum alone there have been numerous conservative hit pieces posted that were flat out debunked falsehoods. It is usually just people reposting things that they read that came through the mail and it shocked them so they passed it on and that could happen to anyone.. but it just always happens to so called conservatives- seriously always. I am not talking about the grey area opinion stuff, but the real you said this happened, but it didnt stuff. What is up with that? There is no proof that conservatives are less intelligent or more gullible.. certainly not the the degree that the discrepancy would indicate. Perhaps it is that people who stand to benefit greatly from putting thier buddies in control of the government don't really have a platform tha facts can support so they send out constant streams of market tested nonsense to confuse the facts and get people to vote against thier own best interests. I dont know how you guys deal with it, I was on the fox koolaid during the opening stages of the Iraq invasion. Glued to that coverage 24/7 because all those other damned lying liberal networks and papers kept glossing over all that evidence of WMD that was everywhere on the fox broadcasts. After that I just haven’t been able to go forgive them for playing me for a fool … but some of you guys don’t seem to mind. There's an old saying in Tennessee — I know it's in Texas, probably in Tennessee — that says, fool me once, shame on — shame on you. Fool me — you can't get fooled again." If you have real arguements, use real information to back them up. |

The problem is when the government gets involved in the private sector they think they should get to set the rules. For example they came up with onstar great right you break down you can get help. or you lock your keys in the car while running great. only what they are not telling you is that they have total control of your vehicle. One day your speeding cause your late or you just want to . Some gov hired do gooder is monitoring you and flips the switch and your car slows down. you wait it's coming The free market always balances out. The taxpayer should not have to pay for their mistakes . |

Malibud, maybe you can understand this, the grocery shelves are full and they need some shoppers, there ias alot of influence when it comes to going to war...you back up the clock and try to wonder, we (dow chemical) sold him the very weapons to gas the kurds, shoulder mounts that they were shooting at a-10"s and Cobra's...and then you get some guy from a desert that orchestrates a 10 or 20 year plot to hit the epicenter of the United States while his family is on the only plane that is airborne. you ask any General what his job is and he will say to go to war. (im still trying to decipher Vietnam) im not stirring up a conspiracy, but anyone with a high school educaiton can break this down and silenty figure out why things are the way they are.
it seems we need some type of conflict every 20 or so years, its not population control but inventory control |

They...as in the government came up with Onstar? Wrong. Onstar was developed as a joint venture between GM, EDS, and Hughes and launched in Cadillacs in 1997. That was during the hay days for GM and I highly doubt the government was involved at all. I highly doubt they are involved at all right now for that matter. If you are that paranoid, you probably should not carry your cell phone in the car either. As much as I am against bailouts, I have to admit they worked for GM and to a lesser extent for Chrysler. The way I see it, we are better off as a state and a country for still having the jobs and the manufacturing capability that GM provides. I am not sure GM would be here right now if we did not get the bail out. As for the gas prices going up...it sucks. Instead of just complaining about it, do something. Trade one of your trucks/SUVs for a smaller car...who really NEEDS two. I am looking at trading my wifes Audi A6 (gets about 20 city) for a Chevy Volt. I could drive it to and from work (26 miles round trip) with zero gas. Yes it will cost me a few dollars/week in electricity but a hell of a lot cheaper than gas, and I can put those saving into boat gas. And before someone says it, I could not care less about hugging trees or saving the environment...it just plain cost less (payment/lease and fuel, especially if we do hit that $5 this summer). Wife would keep the Tahoe at home (works from home) so we could potentially not spend any money on car fuel...that sounds good to me! |

So this begs the question, Where do you get your news from Joe? You seem to never be wrong, always know all the facts and defend your party to the end. What is your source. It surely can't be CNN, MSNBC, CBS, NBC, ABC,and we know what you think of Fox. We obviously need to get all our info from your source. Please share. |

Not that you really care but mostly I read everything and I read a lot, if I am spending a lot of time in the shop I listen to a lot of talk radio for entertainment but I do realize that it is entertainment with an agenda and dont consider it news. Don't see much tv.. for breaking news I would likely be watching CNN though. Personally I think the world would be a better place if there were no tv news at all.. it is too easy to use that format to manipulate the viewer and too hard to use it to present an entire story.
While it is a stretch to say that I am never wrong... I do hate being wrong therefore I usually check my facts a couple places before I repeat them on the interwebs |

I read these all the time . I would have to say Joe is probably the most well spoken and well rounded democrat i have ever listened to.as I scroll thru this blog I see a few people worrying about onstar? why we were in iraq? (either party would have had to be there ) the onstar subject is not even worth a comment. Harrdock? you always seem to have reasonable valid subject matter.. Eric I cant wait to meet you . Its funny how you build a vision of someone here thru their comments. I picture hugh lorrie (house) with his sarcasm.

Joe, Only the right does this? We need some stat's, some real information to back this up. Both sides do this, the left has tried in vain to label the tea party as racist with no other proof than they do not care for Obama's policy's, republicans are frequently described as against clean air and water (who really would NOT want clean air and water?) and that we want to push little old ladies off cliffs in their wheelchairs. Currently the internet is full of half truths and lies about our current contenders for the republican nomination. So when you say it is only the right that demonstrates this problem, you are posting made up crap and your gullible support group goes along not confirming the facts for themselves. Your very premise disproves itself. And your Bush quote, isn't that cherry picking? |

Profits and production costs for a gallon of gas are relatively fixed, or at least stable over time. There are many ways politics influence gas prices, these include overall energy policy, political agendas, regulation, monetary policy and more. This president is a green energy guy, he stated he would like to see energy prices slowly rise to make alternatives more attractive. He plays games saying oil leases are available but he puts big regulation hurdles in place to discourage their use. We have also been monetizing our debt, not only does this steal wealth from all of us by devaluing our dollar but it increases the cost of oil which is traded in....US dollars. Because oil and gas needs to be transported, there is a multiplier effect. As the cost goes up the cost to move it goes up, further increasing the price. Especially if you need to move it by rail instead of a pipeline. All these influences are not a product of capitalism, they are manipulations of government and well within a presidents control. |

I did not do the editing, I did pass it on, unlike our president I dont try to take credit for what I did not do, but I do take responsibility for what I have done. You can complain about their abbreviated form, but Like it or not they are his words, for the most part word for word as in the text you posted. He spent about a minute of the 10 minute speech describing the actual events, and during that minute he was all I's. Its his nature and he proves it time and again.
