Does anyone have a good method of removing decals, other than using a heat gun and putty knife?

Only things I've used to remove decals was warm the boat/decals in the sun for a bit then speed up the process using a hairdryer on the hot setting. It's usually hot enough to warm up the glue but not hot enough to damage the Gelcoat. Follow up with wiping it down with alcohol to remove any residual.

Thanks guys. Sorry for the late reply. I changed my email and finally got my account reactivated. Anyway, I got an eraser wheel. Made by Astro Pneumatic. Works great. I really like the look without the decals. Might leave it that way.

I just used the hairdryer method. It work like a charm. Just peeled a little up with a razor blade after heating it on the hot setting on the hairdryer. Numbers/letters that had been on since at least 1982 just peeled right off. Great method.
