I have a perfect pass digital pro 6.5 I am installing and am using strictly for RPM based operation. My question is this, there are two wires coming out of it, one with a flat connector and the other with a ring style like for a screw. On the back of my tach there are two flat connectors where the wires fit on. What do I unhook/ where do I hook up the PP? If I unplug one of the wires on the tach I will lose the tach right? Do I just splice it in on one of those wires?

Is one of the wires going into your tach a gray wire?

uh probably, they all look a little gray under the dash without a light. I will have to look again. My tach has two posts on the back with I believe 2 wires going to each post. I think they are just daisy chained, like the ground goes to the next instrument etc.

are the two wires coming from the PP for the RPM the same thing just two different kinds of ends? Or is one a ground?

The unit itself is all hooked up, it has power and works fine, just need to figure out the RPM hookup part.

Check out Step 5, bullet point (1)

This is for a Stargazer, but assume the RPM pickup works on the same principle.

It sounds like the ring connector one can go to any ground.

Yeah, the grounds on your boat are most likely daisy chained from instrument to instrument.

see the gray wire on mine doesnt have a right terminal its a blade style, but then again so is my tach. Maybe I can get two flat blades in the same female clip of that style. I dont know what those ends are called.

Those instructions are a little confusing, because it sounds like there is one ground, when hooking up the power wire on the master module, and a separate ground associated with the RPM pickup. You might want to call Perfect Pass.

As far as blades, there are all types of adapters for wire crimping. Anything from a Radio Shack to a West Marine might have what you need.

yes, but it does sound like there is a separate ground for the RPM so thats probably where the ring terminal goes. Ill double check the wire colors. Ill try to hook the gray one up to the tach somehow. Thanks brian I think you have me something to try. If it doesnt work Ill post some pictures.
